Would recommend. Our small dog couldn't 4/27/2012

Would recommend. Our small dog couldn't get in to see regular vet so they referred us here for same day evaluation after she was bit by a squirrel she caught. Veterinarian, staff was nice. Much less traumatic and less expensive than taking to an emergency hospital downtown. It looks like they have longer hours than normal pet clinic so more availability. IMO, I don't think he is trying to pad the bill as other commenters stated, but is more detail-oriented in care and explanation than our regular vet, I would guess just personality and comfort level. There were some unexpected things done once he got in there that I was not charged for. I prefer my regular vet but would be comfortable recommending this clinic or returning for an unexpected visit. The particular day I was in I only saw smaller dogs and cats, but that may not be all they see. more

I have taken my small dog to Best Care 4/26/2012

I have taken my small dog to Best Care Animal Hospital for over seven years. She has had several unusual health problems because of her extra tiny size. Dr. Scarpinato has been really very clever at solving problems I did not think could be helped. Now after seven years of medications, my little dog is near the end of her life. He is using such care with her, really patient in exams, and using wisdom and insight as well as technical expertise in prescribing new medications. He also collaborates with our excellent canine cardiologist at Cardiology North west and both doctors help me manage the expense by using low tech diagnostics like a stethascope when appropriate, though I have also used x-rays and an ultrasound. He is not pressuring me and is very supportive of my wish to let her keep living as long as she can enjoy her life. I so appreciate his willingness to solve problems. He had a little cat scratch device in the lobby and let me take it home to borrow because it just fit my tiny dog as a seat and she can sit in it to catch her breath better. He gave me his cell number in case we had an emergency at night. I am so grateful for his kindness and intelligent care. Any cat people would be well served there also as they are really doing a service of helping cats in particular. more

Best Vet and Staff on Westside! 9/19/2011

I recently adopted a blind kitten who loves to climb. She was wrestling with my other cat up on a shelf unit when she fell. She then wouldn't use one of her back legs and I was in a panic. I called Best Care and even though the vet (Dr. Scarpinatto) wasn't scheduled to see patients that day, he said to come right in. more

The most caring Animal Hospital EVER 7/11/2011

I had a problem with my dog and called Best Care Animal Hospital and spoke to Dr. Scarpinatto and told him the trouble I was having with my loving pet, He told me to bring her in immediately. I did and it was determined that my dog had to be put down. That was hard enough but what was unexpected was the professionalism and compassion and caring I got from the staff. They helped a truly horrible time and showed true compassion and Professional help. I had my pet cremated and 2 day's later she was ready to pick-up and they made a plaster cast of her foot with her name engraved on it, totally unexpected. I went back a few days ago to take my mothers cat's for she was ill and I got to speak to Dr. Scarpinatto about how he helped me and I thanked him. He explained that it hurts him to put a pet down also. That's true compassion. Thank You William Meligan more

Don't waste your time or money here 11/18/2010

My dog needed a quick appointment and unfortunately my regular vet wasn't available for 4 days so they recommended this facility. The only thing they are efficient at is setting appointments because the schedule is wide open. The vet and staff were intimidated by my 140 lbs Great Dane, basically said they couldn't handle him to provide treatment. Maybe that is because the exam room is the size of a toilet stall...The vet then proceeded to lecture me on the Dog Whisperer and training my dog to be submissive in all situations. Maybe if he had been paying attention to Caesar he would realize that dogs can sense when you are nervous or anxious around them. PLEASE don't take your animals here at least not any over 20 lbs. more

Unprofessional and expensive. 9/9/2010

This guy will nickel and dime you to death, calling you back for numerous, unnecessary, expensive follow-ups. And he never shuts up - on and on and on about his views on politics and religion while you're anxiously waiting to be released so you can go to work. Whether I agree with him or not is moot, I just want him to shut up and take care of my dog in a professional way. I've gone to him for years and liked him in the beginning, but he's gotten much worse. I'll be finding a new vet and not recommending him anymore. Others I know who go to him are saying the same thing. more
