The Bellemeade Plantation is a great place to go, ONCE. It is one of those "been there, done that" type of places. They do have a Halloween "trick or treat" thing in October, wher...

A must do! 11/29/2005

This is one of those things that if you are in the area then you have to do this at least once. It is great to 'go back' and see how people lived then. I really like that everything is done in period style. The house is huge and is an antebellum masterpiece. It is set in such a beautiful place with rolling hills. Everyone there is very friendly and helpful and eager to answer your questions. They also have a cute little gift shop. more

Must see at least once 8/19/2005

A great historical tour. People are dressed in period clothing. Several tours are offered daily at reasonable prices. The restaurant is a little pricey and personally we did not care for it. My kids got a little bored but they are young (3 and 5). It was a nice tour and an experience I am glad we did but it would have to be a very looooong time before I visit again. more

Nice 8/19/2005

The Belle Meade Plantation is well preserved treasure. One really fun thing is that the guides are dressed in period clothing. The Plantation's history deals with raising champion horses, what slove lofe was like, and the trouble with Union soldiers during the war. The interior of the mansion is beautiful. Lots of fine things from the era. The slave quarters gives you a look at how they lived. more

Go see.. 8/6/2005

The Bellemeade Plantation is a great place to go, ONCE. It is one of those "been there, done that" type of places. They do have a Halloween "trick or treat" thing in October, where the costumed people hand out candy. It's fun- but each of the people gives out the same candy and none of them even really said hello, so it isn't worth trying to get over there again this year. A lot of people use the place as a wedding reception site, and it is beautiful serving that purpose. They offer tours almost every day. more

A fun afternoon out 8/2/2005

Belle Meade plantation is a local tourist attraction and a great place to take your out of town visitors. This plantation is beautiful and feels like the Old South. Tours are offered daily and there is an award winning restaraunt on the plantation where you can go for lunch. The restaraunt is somewhat pricey, but the price of the tour of the plantaion is very reasonable. more
