I love Bel Mateo bowl. I have been to a kid's birthday party there as well as bowling as a group and enjoyed myself each time. They have great birthday parties. You get a couple of lanes and later have their party room where you can order hot dogs or pizza. They don't appear to supply cakes, however, which can add to the work you need to put into the party. One of the other parents also was not happy that they only had soda or water. For my group event they had the alley lit nicely for nighttime and had rock music and was enjoyable for everyone. It's a great locally run shop. more

Nice entertainment for the evening 8/16/2005

Bel mateo bowl is the only bowling alley in a 20m mile radius around san mateo. It is nice place a little old though. But they have an upbeat mood there so it is more than compensates for it. They have a lot of lucky draws now and then and one of my friends won a trip for 2 to Tahoe once. Rates are normal and the quality of the lanes are OK. more

So-so 8/15/2005

This bowling alley is not bad. It could be a little pricey but I got this summer pass there for $10 for all you can bowl during happy hour. It includes shoe rental too. It it weren't for this deal, I probably won't come here to often though. Service is not that great. The people who work there can be quite rude. I don't believe this place has disco bowling either. I like that, it's more fun with the black lights, glowing ball and loud music. more

A fun time 8/2/2005

My friends and I recently took the kids bowling. We went on a summer Tuesday afternoon and it was quite busy. They have bumper bowling for the kids and they also have ramps where the kids can put the ball on and line it up and even the youngest toddler can enjoy the "bowling" experience. The cost of the lanes seemed a little high at $20/hr, but maybe that's the norm and the last time I was at the alley, MY mom was paying and I was bumper bowling. The shoe rental seems steep too at $3.50. But if you have a bunch of people and split the cost, it's not that bad. It was nice and cool on a hot day! more
