My husband, my daughter, and I are all regular patients at Dr. Becker's office. My husband has lifelong chronic issues with his pelvis that necessitate regular visits; since beginning under Dr. Becker's care about six months ago, he has had more time pain-free than ever before. I had not even realized how much constant pain my back was in until after my first session (also about six months ago); I could not BELIEVE how amazing I felt when I left. It took about ten minutes of driving toward home before it sank in: I was really pain-free for the first time in my memory. I cried like a baby. My daughter has Crohn's disease, and with that comes chronic pain in the joints and muscles. I observed her first visit, and it was astonishing to me how much of a difference the Activator made in her physiological responses. Dr. Becker seriously rocks. more

I have been treated by Dr Harman using the activator at two different times (2002 and 2007). I would not trust my skeletal structure to any other type of chiropractic care. I would have no second thoughts about seeing him for treatment with the acticator if it were appropriate in the future.\r \r When I was hurt was during a very minor manipulation by an osteopathic physician which sent me to the hospital emergency room with a home made splint the following morning. more

Dr. Harman literally gave me my life back. I came to his office in Jan. 2007 for the first time. I had suffered from agonizing migraines all my life. They had been increasing in frequency, level of pain, and level of debilitation. I had been to dozens and dozens of medical doctors, holistic practitioners, alternative medicine providers, ect. By the time I saw doctor Harman I had been experiencing 20-25 migraines a month, was on 10 different medications, and had been on disability for a month (for the first time in my life). I couldn't be in a room with the light on, bend over to tie my shoes, drive, go to a store, work, etc. I could only be in a dark, cool room in silence with ice packs on my head. Nothing helped the pain, no medication or treatment of any kind relieved the pure hell of the migraines I had grown accustomed to. My neurologist told me I would most likely be on disability for the rest of my life. I was 39 at the time and found this unacceptable. I was skeptical of the activator method because it had done nothing for me in the past, nor had other methods of Chiropractic. After the first treatment I thought this woudn't work at all. The treatment was so gentle I thought it couldn't possibly have any effect. I cried on the way home thinking I had tried everything and there was no hope that I would ever have a normal, pain free existence again. Within and hour and a half I was suddenly 50 percent better than I had been over the previous several months. That night I was able to eat dinner with my family in the dining room with the light on, drive to a church gathering and go to the grocery store. I had another treatment the next day and I felt better than I had felt in 10 years. The pain was completely gone, the sensitivities to foods, lights, smells, the computer, and temperature were all gone. I went off all 10 medications for the first time in 10 years. I have been treated by Dr. Harman since 1991. I was seeing another chiropractor before that time. When he retired I went searching for another chiropractor. Dr. Harman came so highly recommended I thought I would see if friend's recommendations were true. I was a little leery at first because he used an Activator where I had been used to manipulation. I had nothing to be leery about because the Activator is the only way to go. I have been rear-ended twice, one minor and one serious. The whip-lash injuries from the serious accident took a little longer to repair but Dr. Harman and the gentle Activator did the trick.\r \r Dr. Harman is gentle, caring and always informative. He is so caring, he will call you at home to see how you are doing. He is VERY knowledgable and will explain exactly what had happened in my body to make it react the way it had. He is ethical and honest; he never has you coming back if you no longer need treatment. \r \r I think he is the best Chiropractor on the Peninsula. more

I have been seeing Dr. Harman on and off for several years to treat various bumps and bruises (e.g. a gym injury to my lower back and a fall on ice that caused whiplash to my neck). The activator technique is frankly the only technique I trust (it's hardly a mallet - the activator is about the size of a sharpie pen!). It's gentle and effective, and Dr. Harman has a terrific bedside manner. He listens, he cares, and he's very professional (no sitting around in the waiting room). I have been treated by 3 other Chiropractors, a British trained Osteopath, Accupuncturist as well as Accupressure lady both from China and never have I received as effective and helpful care as I have with Dr. Harman.\r \r My body and injury have responded very well to the Activator instrument and Dr. Harman's method of treatment . His technique is very gentle, safe and passive in sensation and comfort level. Anyone can employ the Activator but I believe Dr. Harman's expertise is what makes the difference. I have recommended his office to many of my co-workers over the years and have heard nothing but the same positive experiences and results that I have had. \r \r I don't usually write these kinds of reviews, but while browsing for something else on Citysearch, I was happy to see Harman Chiropractic Center listed here. However, I had to laugh when I saw the review of the lady who got a headache from the Activator, as the instrument is so gentle and that's the last thing in the world that it is supposed to do! But like everything else, I guess there's always ""one in every bunch""!\r \r And like the others said, I agree, the parking is great here and when I am hurting or in pain, the last thing I need to be doing is hunting, searching and fighting for a parking space. But this is just the cream on top of the cake.\r \r Also, if you are always on a tight schedule like me, you'll enjoy the fact that barring any type of unforseen emergency, this office's appointments and schedule spacing run like clockwork, you can set your watch to it and I appreciate that. I am a Nurse and work with MDs all day, but Dr. Harmon is always the first stop for any sort of pain in our family. My 4 kids all know that he will help resolve whatever headache, back pain or sports injury they have had. I have recommended him to many friends and collegues. Activator method is safe for anyone, babies to elderly. I love the activator style of chiropractor practice. I had tried the other style, but the twisting and tugging was scary and sometimes hurt. The activator method uses a combination of muscle testing to determine what part of the body needs care and a hand held device (the 'activator') that feels a bit like an empty stapler being used on your back. It is amazing. \r \r Dr. H's time-honed activator techniques are both gentle and groundbreaking. Sometimes he attends conferences and teaches his techniques. Dr. H provides the best care for my headaches and carpal tunnel that I have found in many years of searching (no surgery for me - yippee!). Dr. H often checks messages on the weekend in case of patient emergencies. \r \r Dr. Becker, his office mate, is quite skilled and a solid option when Dr. H is booked. I find that they encourage questions and do their best to answer them. I was referred to R. Dean Harman, DC, for treatment of low back pain. On my third visit, he applied an Activator device (a hand-held, spring-loaded mallet) to the back of my neck at the base of my skull. As I left his office minutes later, I began to develop a headache initiating from the application site. The headache spread rapidly and became so severe and persistent that I needed to leave work to seek medical attention. My physician said that Dr. Harman struck a nerve with his device, causing inflammation and triggering the worst headache I have ever had. Despite medical treatment at my doctor's office and home care per her advice, the next day I am still experiencing a strong headache which is negatively impacting my sleep, work, and other activities. Dr. Harman is my all time favorite chiropractor! He's great at what he does and he loves his job. He uses ""activator method"" if you prefer (I do) so he doesn't crack you like most chiropractors. You lay on a table and he can tell where you need pressure. He uses a little tool that puts a little pressure at certain points. Its highly effective and my body doesn't tense up like it does when a chiropractor is trying to crack my neck! My injuries go away fast under his care. Highly recommend!
