The best place in town for food, drinks and fun!! I have gone to the competition and have always returned to Bass Lake Draft House. They make me feel like family when I am there and the food is always the best. Try there Pimento cheese sandwhich if you are looking for someting different and delicious. Don't waist your time at any other ""tavern"" in the area go to Bass Lake. more

Gouged and Robbed 7/24/2011

Until tonight, we've absolutely loved everything about Bass Lake Draft House and usually have dinner there 2 to 3 times every month for the past three years. That came to an end tonight. Don't get me wrong, there food there is always great tasting and well prepared, and the service is usually better than average which we can't say about most restaurants in the Triangle. Besides the issue I had with the Smokey Mountain Chicken (which I'll elaborate on later in this review), I could not believe what I saw on the check! My daughter ordered the Turkey and Cheese Pita off of the children's menu. The Pita comes dry and so my daughter asked for a side of ranch dressing... KA-CHING Let's charge these folks for a side of dressing! I asked our waitress about this and she said it just depends on the manager on duty and she had to charge for it or she'd hear about it from the manager. Then I noticed the suggestions for gratuity of 15%, 18% and 20% listed on the bill which is fine and I usually tip 18 to 20% at any restaurant. Well, the gratuity amounts they offered were on the TOTAL amount of the bill and not on the pre-tax sub-total. I can't believe they are suggesting for their patrons to tip on sales tax! I wrote a brief note on the receipt stating that the gratuity should be based on the sub-total and not the after-tax total. Waiting for my wife in the restroom, I watched for the waitress to pick up the check and read the note. When she did, she called over one of the other waitresses and from the expressions they were making on their faces, I seriously wished I could have heard the horrible things they were saying about me, probably of which was being such a tight wad over tipping on sales tax. Now, onto the Smokey Mountain Chicken...DELICIOUS! However, the menu states TWO chicken breasts; not two chicken breasts halves, and not two chicken breast QUARTERS which is what I got. It truly was a half chicken breast, cut in half. They were each smaller than a frozen processed chicken breast patty. Had they been two chicken breasts as the menu states, I would not have had an issue with the $12.99 charge for this dish, but I did not receive a $12.99 meal tonight. What I got tonight was gouged and robbed. Charging for a side of salad dressing, suggesting gratuity on sales tax and grossly over-charging for a sub-standard meal not correctly described on the menu put me over the edge. I'll take my business elsewhere from now on. more

Love the pickle chips! 11/20/2009

I go to the McGregor ale house occasionally since it is very close to where I work and I definitely had to try the draft house since it's close to home. I wasn't disappointed! The food is great and I haven't had a single thing I did not like. The service is fast and the food is always hot. Definitely give them a try! Pros: menu, food, staff, location more

GREAT FOOD, DRINKS, & STAFF 4/13/2009

We have been going to Bass Lake Draft House for a few years now and we love the food, beer selection, and the friendly staff. All of the bartenders have always treaded us with respect. The other staff members greet us as well. It is home away from home. It is a place for family, and for people just wanting to hang out with friends! Pros: food more

Decent food. Good wait staff. 3/17/2009

I've been going to Bass Lake since it opened. They started out great for about a month... then I had a couple mediocre experiences in a row. I went back to try it again after about 6 mos., and ever since then, it looks like they've figured out their food. Since HS is so limited in decent sit-down restautants, this is now a regular place for us. Eat there about every 3 weeks. Hamburgers are good and usually close to the requested temperature. They used to nail this every time, but I think they get so busy that it doesn't always work out. I usually get the Kentucky Fried Salad. Great ribs. Great selection of beers. I almost couldn't tolerate the smoke from the bar section coming into the dining area (it was loaded with smoke), but they put up a dividing wall maybe a year ago (??), and it's completely fixed that. My only caution is that if you don't like to dine around very small, crying children, then you might want to check out seating options when you're seated. Kids are everywhere (it's Holly Springs!). It's not like a playground or Chuck E Cheese or anything like that, but a lot of families come here to eat. Pros: Usually very quick service, even when busy. Great beers. Cons: Kids, kids, kids, kids, kids, and babies, too. more

Great drink selection, great menu, entertaining staff 11/7/2008

Daryl and I went to Bass Lake Draft House last Thursday when we were both off of work and hanging out. Just like all of the other draft houses in the Raleigh area, the food was excellent and our drink selection was great! Our waiter was so darned funny! I wish they had wait staff like that everywhere! Most importantly, Bass Lake had my favorite Woodchuck Pear Cider! Pros: Service, wait staff, food, drink selection, lots of big TV's. more

Best corn beef cabage in town 3/18/2008

Guaranteed the best corn beef and cabbage around. They surprisingly put all the Irish pubs and resteraunts to shame annually. Pros: Nothing but good things to say. Service is great, beer selection is great, and the food is excellent. more

Great Beer and Food 9/3/2006

Great place to dine with friends or you could even take your parents here. Food is great. The atmosphere is great too. Tons of TV's! Pros: TV's everywhere to enjoy the game. Food is great, the French Dip is great Cons: Sometimes gets a little loud. more
