Am going on a rant....,\r
The art lovers...to walk into the 1st room of this place...""The Great Hall"",----takes their breath away! \r
The Barnes website sort of has a nice view, but \r
leaves out the effect of the Great Matisse painting, \r
""The Dancers"", up above, surrounbding the ceiling. which...was FITTED by Matisse himself, in 2 visit's \r
btw---the 1st was measured wrongly, and had to be re-done. Mattisse came, by ocean liner, AGAIN and stayed with Barnes for a 2 nd time. That misfit version was found in the basement of the Matisse museum in Nice. Is now, a tourist attraction.\r
And gosh.....\r
The Great Hall...with everything being so grand and so majestic and colorful....and magificant.....is truly only the beginning!\r
There are the plethera of IMPPORTANT Picasso's...\r
but that....as great as that is---in itself-- isn't the main focus of the Barnes. BY FAR. \r
How about....200 Renoirs, 60 Cezannes and Matisses. Some, very famous ones. An almost priceless Seurat. Is right on par with ""Sunday in the Park at La Grand Jatte"". And...I don't say almost because of the quality, \r
of the Barnes, Seurat, called, ""The Models""... but.... because the painting at the Barnes is as huge as that ""..La Grande Jatte..."",...and has THAT painting, in it's natural form....in the backround, on the studio wallof where he was painting, ""The Models"".\r

hidden from view, printing or camera, untill the \r
60's. The Barnes....was only open to students. \r
After that...because of stat funding...the Barnes had\r
to and still do---the most minimal of hrs)\r

And that still...is nothing.\r
7 Van Goghs. Including, ""The Postman"". Very famous. But...heh, heh...all Van Goghs are.\r
50 or so Modigliani's, (I think).\r
Big time paintings too.\r
A Titian.\r
Many others too. I mean.............MANY others.\r

Rousseau, Manet, Monet, El Grego....and I know I'm missing volumes.\r
I particularly like this guy from the Philly area named Horace Pippin. Barnes was his leader in exhibiting. Check him out. He was from West Chester, I believe and no one embraced his art like Dr Barnes.\r
And again...lol....that is the tip of the icberg to this place,. The arboretum is the greatest. All different trees from all 4 corners of the world---and labled.\r
