Banfield and Dr. Geigel= THE BEST!!!! 3/3/2012

My 15 year old dog had been whiny for some time and had really bad breath. Her vet said she was just a fussy old dog and too old to have her teeth cleaned. After a year of fussing and really horrible breath and increasing "fussiness", I decided to get a second opinion., I took her to Banfield and Dr. Geigel (looks young for his age) looked her over and wanted to run some tests. He discovered a large tumor on her spleen and a small one on her liver. He immediately called for surgery. After having removed her spleen, part of her liver, 4 molars and 2 incisors, my dog was on her way to recovery. In just one month, she is happy, healthy, running, jumping and acting like a young pup again. Her fussiness was pain. Her breath was bad teeth. Had I listened to the other doctor, my best friend might not be here anymore. I also saved approx. $800 in costs due to the Banfield Pet Health insurance plan. I did my research and this plan saved me a bundle. I will be forever grateful to Dr. Geigel and his staff. They all loved and cared for my dog as if she were one of their own. Now that my girl is healthy again, she sleeps through the night and so do I. We are once again a happy little family. Thank you Dr. Geigel and Banfield. Pros: null Cons: null more

Friendly staff, great availability 11/29/2011

I've been taking my parakeet to this Banfield to see Dr. Geigel for a few months now. Never had any problems or issues. We've had great care and treatment there. We also have 2 dogs that see another Banfield, and we've never had a problem with over-charging (but we also have pet insurance on the 2 dogs). Since insurance isn't available on birds, we have to pay out of pocket, but it's definitely less expensive than other offices in Austin for the same care. more

For gods sake, if you love your pet, do not bring them here. 3/5/2011

PLEASE, look at this website before you bring your pet to Bansfield... You will have to google ""consumeraffairs Bansfield"" it will be the first search result . I read through about 10 of the reports, and realized that I was at the top of page that went on forever. The shier volume of reports was astounding. There is someone every day that brings there pet into Bansfield, and leaves with it in worst condition then when they started, and is charged a debilitating amount of money for services that weren't necessary in the first place. I bought their health care plan and was lead to believe that it would cover all my pets medical expenses. On the first visit under the new plan, I was presented with a bill for items that were not covered under the plan. They held my cat hostage until I paid them the amount they were overcharging me for. There solution was to have me go to another PetSmart, and start the plan that wasn't working for me all over again. They tried to compensate me by giving me some of their ""First Shield"" flea treatment, and it poisoned my cat and made all it's hair fall out. more

Will NEVER go back!!! 12/31/2010

I will NEVER take my dogs back to this or any Banfield hospital. We have been going to this Banfield for over 2 years, and had been patients at the one on Balcones Woods before we moved. more

The best animal care in Austin! 3/14/2010

I have had my pet guinea pig for about 2 years. A guinea pig seems an odd pet for a 26-year-old but she is my baby and I love her very much. Everyone at the Mueller Banfield is so kind and came to know myself and my piggy quite well. Every single person I encountered was wonderful. These are the kindest bunch of people you will ever meet. Dr. Geigel-Ortiz has saved my little baby's life. It is pretty rare for a place to even take guinea pigs let alone actually know what they are doing but he knows his stuff! If you need a vet look no further! I cannot say enough good things about these guys! Cons: absolutely none! more

Great Vet Care by Dr. Geigel-Ortiz and Dr. Brandon 2/19/2010

We have two dogs that see Dr. Geigel and I have nothing negative to say about him or his veterinarian skills. He properly diagnosed our puppy's health condition and has treated her effectively. Unlike a lot of vets he will answer and address all of your questions and concerns regarding your pet. His care is thorough, and I feel he treats our dog as if it was his own. Our puppy also seems to enjoy the staff. Regarding our other dog; he is extremely compassionate about her anxieties. After explaining to him the care she was receiving at her previous vet; he came up with an effective treatment plan controlling her stress level and anxieties. I have never had an issues getting an appointment or dropping in when we had a pet emergency. The nursing staff and techs are awesome as well as the front desk staff. I highly recommend Dr. Geigel-Ortiz and his assistant Dr. Brandon. Pros: Availability, Care, Communication, Weekend Hours, Drop Off, more

Wonderful 1/4/2010

I have taken my dog to various Banfield's across Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington' and now Austin. I have received nothing but great treatment for him (even a bout with heartworms) and courteous treatment for him. The monthly well pet program for both my dog and my cat is worth it, because when they're due for shots and checkups, we just go. For people with limited financial resources (I'm a grad student) this has been the BEST solution for me and my menagerie. I would recommend them to anyone. more

Horrible 7/8/2009

have been to the Banfield Pet Hospital 1736 in Austin about six times for one initial visit. I had an absolutely horrible experience there and will never be back. They were way overpriced, they bullied me into expensive tests for my dog that was unnecessary, they lost my insurance paperwork causing me to make three unnecessary trips there, were rude and completely incompetent. The Taco Bell down the street is a well-oiled mecca run by geniuses compared to that hospital. The only saving grace there is a young woman named Debbie. She was the only one who seemed to care and know what was going on. Cons: Overpriced, Scammers, Incompetent more
