I had Karin Ballantyne as a Guardian Ad Litem in a marriage dissolution proceedings and trial. It has been many years ago and her role in the disastrous outcome of the trial to the children is still being felt today. Her role as an agent of the court should have been discontinued long ago. Nobody should ever have to deal with someone like her. The least of her misconducts is to lie bold-faced in her testimonies under oath. Beyond that I would not know from where to start. I would warn anyone and in any situation to even come close to this person. I cannot put it in any simpler or clearer terms. She simply should not be walking in the street and making decisions involving services that contain words like: Justice, Children, Guardian, Protection, Support, Social, or any term of positive connotation. The negative comments about this woman are correct and not from disgruntled or bitter clients:Karin Ballantyne is useless as a reunification "therapist" and dangerous to any family unfortunate enough to have her assigned to a court case. She was beyond unprofessional in every aspect and wreaked more damage than can be imagined to our family. Damage which will take years to mend. In the end, both my GAL and attorney petitioned to have her thrown off our case. We presented reams of evidence of this woman's complete incompetence. Luckily the judge ruled in our favor and Ballantyne was removed from the proceedings. We will never get our payments returned and how she continues to practice is astonishing. As a previous review stated, run for your lives if she is tagged to your custody case. She will take your cash and your sanity then disappear. ZERO Stars. more

I could not agree more with the other negative reviews. Karin changes her mind constantly. She can’t remember what agreements she’s made. Most importantly, she sides with Dv perpetrators and puts mothers/victims in harms way. I have shown her letters from my children’s school, 4 different police departments showing serious neglect to my children, it’s so serious I am going to do everything I can to make sure she can’t put any more children in danger by reporting her to licensing agency. She was pulled off the Seattle list for GALs and she should not be a counselor. She’s a mandated reporter but fails to not only report neglect and abuse, she won’t even mention it to the court. She makes empty promises of writing a declaration to document the abuse and then never does it, she’ll say she will attend a hearing and doesn’t show up. She will work for the parent paying her and that’s all. She will try to control communication and do t let her. It will make things so much harder. She believes deceptive manipulative liars which a counselor should recognize abusive behaviors, but she doesn’t. She will tell you one thing and write another. She will change your parenting plan when she does not have authority to do so. I just can’t say how horrible she is, do whatever you can to not have her on your case. I agree with the last rating. She is absolutely horrible. She is unethical, changes her story. She actually wrote a declaration to the court like she had spoken to my kids or met with them but she hadn't. So she had no knowledge of how they feel. She thinks that being an intoxicated parent driving drug is ok and not a danger to children. She supports DV perpetrators. She requires large amounts of money upfront instead of charging a normal hourly rate. My advice- run. I don't care if you have custody or not, run. She will hurt your case on either side. She does not investigate or check with witnesses more

It's a shame there is not a negative rating to give this woman. The number of times she changes her story on any given topic is enough to make cartoon characters heads spin. Zero integrity, poor judgement, I am shocked she has not been shut down due to her incredibly low moral character. Do not let your children near her or her staff! She does not help them, she endangers the, with reckless and irresponsible behavior. more
