Engineers and beauty supply stores don’t quite fit…or do they? Walk into Balboa Beauty Supply and meet Ramon Pons, a former nuclear engineer turned business owner, and a damn good one too. Small yet full of outstanding inventory, including top of the line hair and beauty products such as Pureology and Murad, this local beauty supply store is nothing less than impressive. Warm and inviting is what comes to mind when I think of this store as Ramon and his staff go above and beyond to provide clients with the best customer service and latest products on the market, as they have done for the past 20 years. “If we don’t have it, we’ll get it” is Ramon’s motto, and that’s no joke. He orders directly from the manufacturer and can get almost any hair care product on the market. His background in engineering also taught him a thing or two about research, and Ramon definitely does his homework. When it comes to supplying his store, whether it be attending conventions or seminars for new and upcoming products, or simply looking into and fulfilling specific requests from clients, Ramon is the one for the job. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, you discover a salon and facial room, where might I add, no appointment is required. This truly is a hidden gem in the back of this shop. I could go on for days, but it wouldn’t come close to the great customer service you will experience when visiting Balboa Beauty Supply, not to mention the daily discounts offered and member card services provided.
