We stood at the Avenue Inn during a trip to New Orleans for our anniversary. The proprietors, Bebe and Joe, helped make our visit to the city all that we dreamed it would be.\r

Located in the less hectic Garden District, the home is gorgeous both inside and out. Beautifully furnished, it is comfortable and super clean - the only place I've ever been where I've felt as at ease as if staying with family or close friends.\r

Bebe and Joe are awesome hosts! Their knowledge of New Orleans is unparalleled. They can answer questions, make recommendations and arrangements, or just chat with you about all that the city has to offer, both the typical and the offbeat.\r

There is plenty to do and see within walking distance of the inn. With a streetcar stop right in front of the house, you can get anywhere else in the city with ease - it's just a short ride to the French Quarter, museums, and shopping. Transit passes cost only $3/day, are purchased on the streetcar, and are good for all streetcars and buses that operate 24 hours a day. It gets no more convenient than that!\r

The neighborhood is quiet and safe. We slept peacefully each night in our air-conditioned room (individual thermostats!) with no noise intruding from outside (old houses are built well!). Evening walks are beautiful and relaxing, allowing you to see an abundance of fine architecture in the area. Or, you can sit on the front porch or patio and just watch the world go by.\r
\r
Breakfast each morning on the patio is a great way to start the day. The coffee is great and always fresh. The pastries are the best I've had, this side of Paris (France, not Texas). Words cannot describe them. New Orleans food is amazing! Everywhere we ate was fantastic and there are great places to dine right near the inn.\r
\r
We drove to New Orleans and there is private, off-street parking behind the house. No worries about where to put your car or whether it will be secure. The complementary bottled water and snacks were also most appreciated at the end of a long day.\r

Thank you, Bebe and Joe, for sharing your home with us! We look forward to our next trip to New Orleans and certainly know where we'll be staying!
