Don't ever go to Aspen Dental 11/5/2012

I went in for just a check-up and found I had to have some fillings. After the fillings my mouth hurt and it was difficult to chew. The dentist said I should probably have a root canal on the one tooth. I explained that the pain was mostly coming from another tooth and they replied that the whole side of your mouth could be in pain from that. I sought a second opinion and found it was indeed a different tooth that was cracked. They were going to remove the other tooth and I would have been stuck with the same situation and lost lots of money. Their prices are more expensive and unnessesary treatments and services are sold to you I believe to make more money. I came in with no pain and now have serious issues that will cost even more to fix. Please do not make the same mistake. more

Horrible 7/10/2012

Just don't go there, ever. Theses practices are run by Private equity firms. Look it up, how wall st can be involved in healthcare is beyond me. Shut them down more

Stay far way from Aspen dent in Lancaster ohio 12/7/2011

They were the worst company ever I don't know how they are so big. To start it all off it took them a hr to take me back then when I get back there I waited another 45 min. Then the doc finally came in and she wanted to pull out a tooth that had a cavity in. She didn't give me the option to save it. The ironic thing about it is that i have been a dental assistant for 10 years and my tooth just needed a crown. Let's just say if you want dentures then go there but if u want the proper care go to a place that cares more about your Orel health and not your money. more

SUCKS!! 11/22/2011

Aspen Dental sucks! They promised me they can help me,but made my problems worse. I then went to a real dentist and they helped me and it was a lot CHEAPER. Aspen overcharges. Be ware! don't GO THERE unless you want a lot of pain and spent a lot of money. IT'S NOT WORTH IT. I'VE GOT A LAWYER HANDELING IT! more

SCAM! 7/26/2011

I have had perfectly good teeth all my life. Insurance changed and had to go to Aspen Dental. I went to the one in Cincinnati Ohio in the Eastgate area. Funny they said they found 5 cavities and I had peridontal disease. I have just been to the dentist 3 months earlier and had a cleaning and xrays. Then the staff stood around and stared as if I was a specimen when I tried to have a conversation with the dentist who looked awful young like he had just graduated high school let alone dental school. I am getting a second opinion. I told them I was skeptical of what they were telling me. They also gave me a charge that I would have to pay #05.00 out of my pocket for toothbrush, tooth paste and mouth rinse for my peridontal disease. I am getting a second opinion. I think these people are a scam! more

New Management? 4/7/2011

Don't believe the hype! I was assigned to Aspen by our insurance, and after reading the reviews it got I was afraid to go. I went anyway and found the staff to be quite friendly and the services on par with any other dentist. Apparently the situation mentioned in past reviews is no longer the case. more

SCAM 1/18/2011

Horrible, wanted to take out three good teeth, that they said were bad wanted to charge..8000. High pitch sales going there. I found another dentist who did it for 1500, and told me to stay away...PLEASE GO FOR SECOND OR THIRD OPINIONS THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS more

Worst dentist ever 1/9/2011

Worst dentist ive ever visited. They tried to sucker me into getting additional "treatments" by visiting their "hygenist" who is only a glorified saleswoman. Then they screwed up my crown placement, and made me get a root canal and wouldnt see me until they had another appointment 2 weeks later. On top of that, their idiot dental tech placed the temporary crown too high so i had to return to get that adjusted. Save your money and go ANYWHERE else more

What a Dental Clinic!!! 9/29/2010

Good: The service was great. The staff was so kind, understanding, the quality of work was superior. The Dentist was one of the best I had ever had the opportunity to work on my teeth. Everything was approached with my needs and comfort. It hasn't even been 18 hours, and I have the greatest smile I had ever had in my life. The staff knew me by my first name, and were constantly accommodating. Thank you Aspen Dental. You made this possible. A dream. Bad: I can't complain about a single thing.. Improvements: How can you improve excellence?. Other: This clinic has been a God Spent for me. I would like to see more clinics available throughout the country.. more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! 8/4/2010

Good: NOTHING. Bad: I went here bc I chipped my tooth and am a college student in kent. They told me that I needed a root canal, had 11 cavities, and my wisdom teeth out. $4000 worth of work. So I went to my family dentist at home who did xrays and a full exam and it turns out I did NOT need a root canal or my wisdom teeth out and I only had two cavities and paid $100 for it all. This place is a scam they were going to charge a poor college student for that work that didn't need to be done and put me through pain for nothing.. Improvements: Yes they need to be shut down.. more

Overcharged/Poor Customer Service 7/28/2010

I recently visited Aspen Dental/Stow OH due to having pain in my tooth. I was advised that I needed a root canal & was referred to an endodonist. I was scheduled for a follow up appointment with Aspen Dental for a crown & cleaning. I called Aspen Dental 10 days prior to my appointment to find out my financial responsibility due to my yearly dental benefit would be exhausted after $50 more dollars. I spoke to the office manager & he assured me that I would be called back. Needless to say no called me, the day before my appointment I called & spoke to a woman who could only give me a range $400 -$1300. I again expressed to her that my dental benefit would exhaust after $50 & needed to know a good estimate prior to having the dental work done. She was unable to help me so I arrived at my appointment on the follow day 45 minutes early to discuss my financial portion. The receptionist & the girl working behind her gave me a number of $470. They seemed uncertain so I asked them if I could have a seat & they would contact my insurance company. When called back up to the desk, they stated the charge was $470. I paid the 470.00 & had my services completed. Less than 30 days later I received a bill for an additional $489.. I have repeated called their billing department. The same girl is unhelpful everytime. I also discussed a charge for my son which was on the bill. $98 for flouride which should of been covered by insurance. She had no clue why it wasn't paid. I ended up calling the insurance company and the insurance company shared with me the reason why it was not paid because Aspen Dental billed the same service 6 months prior & flouride is only to be done once a year. It is amazing that someone who works in the dental billing office could not figure that out. In regards to my own billing issues, I have asked on numerous occassions to speak to the office manager or for him to call me. Never a returned call. This is a bill I refuse to pay & this is coming from a person with excellent credit. more

Clean Your Teeth, Empty Your Wallet 11/7/2007

My wife and I recently visited the Aspen Dental in Stow, Ohio. It was a first visit for both of us, and we had very similar experiences. We have dental insurance, which covers X-rays and cleanings at 100%, and other necessary services (fillings, fluoride for children, etc.) at 80%. The staff were friendly, and we did not have to wait too long in the waiting room (15-20 minutes). The Aspen we visited is fairly new, and their equipment and office are clean, modern, and well-kept. The X-ray machine feeds directly into a computer, which gives instant results for the staff to review. At your initial visit, they perform X-rays and an oral exam. You have to go back for the cleaning. The dentist was very young (probably not over 27) but was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. After she examined my teeth, she said they would be doing a VisaLite oral cancer screening. I was aware that they recommended this service, as my wife had been to the office a few weeks prior to my visit. I also knew that my dental insurance did not cover VisaLite screenings, and that it is not universally recognized as effective. My research had uncovered another, more disturbing issue. While most places charge around $50 for the screening (see, e.g., http://www.wzzm13.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=82068), Aspen told my wife that her share of the cost would be nearly $400! After initially agreeing to the screening, my wife declined it (they were going to do it at a follow-up visit). What surprised me when I went to Aspen was that the dentist did not "recommend" the screening to me: she simply stated that they would be doing it. I told her I did not want it, at which point her demeanor changed from friendly to almost hostile. "Well," she said, "I'm telling you that you need to have it." When I still declined, she said, "Then you'll have to sign a waiver stating that you refused it and that we won't be responsible if you have oral cancer." As I lawyer, I was having none of that, and I told her I wouldn't sign anything. She made some notes in my file and left, and that was the last I saw of her. When I went to check out and schedule my cleaning, the business manager had prepared an estimate for me, which included the VisaLite screening and a fluoride treatment (which I had also declined). She reran the estimate, and even though I didn't have any cavities, I somehow still ended up paying $62, which they said was because my teeth needed an "extra-deep cleaning". On my return visit, I reluctantly paid the $62 and went in for the cleaning. The technician poked around in my mouth for a few minutes, then announced that I needed to have antibiotics placed in my gums -- to the tune of $270, none of which was covered by insurance! I told her I wasn't going to have that done. She tried to stress the importance of it at first, but when she realized I wasn't giving in, she said, "That's OK. You can get a Water Pik, which will do basically the same thing." Needless to say, my next appointment for a cleaning and check up will not be at Aspen Dental. more
