I had surgery January 2010 done by Dr. Tom at Applegarth's Dermotology in Valparaiso, Indiana. The surgery was to remove a cyst in my nose that was growing and sticking out and was about the size of a pea. After having the surgery, I went back a week later to have the stitches removed and explained then to Dr. Tom that it felt like the cyst was still there. He explained...""oh no, it's not there, your still a little swollen"". Then another week goes back (now 2 weeks after orginal surgery) I call back to the office and explain to the receptionist that \r
I do not think that he got all of the cyst removed, because I still have the bump on the side of my nose, it's now just a little lower than were it use to be. She passed this along to Dr. Tom and I was told he wanted to see me. I went back into see Dr. Tom and I explained and showed him that he did not get all of the cyst out. He rasied his voice at me, told me I was not a doctor and that I was wrong. I got up, grabbed my things, told him that I was the patient, I know my body and that he was wrong. I then left and vowed never to return and most def DO NOT recommend this office to anyone. Here I am almost a year later (Dec. 2010) and I am getting ready to have the same surgery done at another Dermatology office because I WAS RIGHT! Dr. Tom FAILED to remove all of the cyst the first time. I have also have my insurance company over billed at Applegarth's Dermatology. I was charged my co-pay every time I went, even for the follow up after surgery to have stitches removed which is covered by insurance and states that I have no co-pay for follow ups after surgery. I had to even argue this fact and have my insurance company call the office and tell them the same thing.
