Animal Spirit is your place for really good pet food (Wellness, Eukanuba, etc) and supplies. The ladies who run the place know plenty about pets - I called them frantically one Saturday morning because my cat had ejected some bodily substance onto my roommate's brand new loveseat, and said roommate was about to return from a week's vacation. The lady knew exactly what to tell me ("Oh, we get calls like this ALL the time"), told me what to buy and what to do with it, and man, it worked (Nature's Miracle, if your'e wondering). They are also terrific groomers of cats, at least, and roughly every other Saturday is "cats only" if your feline is dog-wary. Call ahead for an appointment. more

This is a great pet health store!. I choose from each of the healthy cat foods (organic and well balanced) as well as their healthy daily vitamins (they LOVE them and I give them as treats!). The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. They offer grooming for dogs and cats. I take my three cats here for grooming and believe it or not, they love it. My cats are always relaxed when I pick them up which confirms that I'm bringing them to the right place. The parking is a little rough as you have to park on street so just be sure to get there early for your appointment. It is conveniently located a short walk from Porter Square T stop though which is what I do to avoid the parking debacle. You'll love this place if you are in the least bit finicky with your pets diet or care! more

This is a great health store for pets. They carry a wide assortment of some of the worlds healthiest cat and dog foods (that are organic and holistic) and believe me Ive done my research. They carry supplements, oils, shampoos, vitamins, tinctures, potions and various other holistic/natural treatments for your pet. Im huge on natural health for my kitties to ensure them a long and healthy life. I pick up their daily vitamins, periodic toys, healthy snacks, organic cat nip and healthy cat food: Innova. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable - theyre always on top of the latest products and nutritional information and can answer just about any question you pose. I order a case of food at a time and its there waiting for me which saves me gas and travel time. They also offer grooming for dogs and cats. I took my two kitties there for grooming recently, actually a Cat Day Spa consisting of classical music, a gentle whirlpool bath and an overall grooming (nails clipped, ears cleaned and brushing). Apparently, they also check for any potential health issues (which luckily they didnt have) and make you aware of any that they see. My kitties were quite content when I picked them up and they looked amazing. The parking is a little rough on Saturday mornings because it's on Mass Ave but you can usually find a meter.
