We are very disappointed with our recent experience with Animal Hospital at Brier Creek. Our dog was having petit mal seizures over the weekend. We brought her in on Monday and were told that her bloodwork came back abnormal and she may have liver disease. They kept her during the day and did a bile acid test, which they said also came back abnormal. We were told an xray, ultrasound and possible biopsy would be necessary to diagnose her liver disease. This one visit cost $400. We were quoted $850 for the additional tests to be done. I was devastated my dog was so sick and I had a lot of unanswered questions. Feeling suspicious, I started calling other vets. I had lab work done by 2 other veterinarians and had them review the results from Brier Creek Animal Hospital as well. They both concluded that all of her lab results were NORMAL, that there is absolutely nothing wrong with her liver and that her seizures were probably due to anxiety. They prescribed us (cheap!) medication and told me that Brier Creek Animal Hospital was after my wallet. I have been taking my dogs here for 2 years, but will not be back. The staff is very friendly and does seem to care, but that's not worth double the price. I was told by Magnolia Animal Hospital that the same blood work that cost me $400 at Brier Creek would have cost less than $200 with them. more

Awful!!! The vets at Animal Hospital at Brier Creek clearly do not care about the welfare of animals. They are only in it for the money. They will charge you exorbitant fees with lots of hidden costs. The vet was extremely dismissive when I was concerned about an issue my pet was having after an appointment and was also very rude to me. I'm writing this in hopes that I can prevent other pet lovers from having the same horrible experience I did. Find a vet who treats you right! more

What our vet quoted us for doggie dental work: $200 more

I have just started going to the 5/28/2012

I have just started going to the hospital with my girlfriend's pet and went there on personal recommendation. I had great personalized service and was given a very thorough appointment which reviewed all my puppie's needs. The Dr, Dr. Sarvas was very thorough and gave me lots of helpful tips on my puppy's behavior. Our next nursing appointment with Jade was also very thorough and helpful. I highly recommend this hospital!! Pros: null Cons: null more

They Truely Care 5/17/2012

I took my scared old little dog there and I was so nervous going to a new vet. The staff was so friendly and kind. They offered me and my dog something to drink right away. My dog was so calm and the vet was so gentle. I had so many questions since my dog is getting older and they were so caring and took so much time. I was so thrilled with my experience. You can tell that they really care about what they do. Pros: null Cons: null more

My 2 Poodles Luv Animal Hospital at Brier Creek 9/6/2011

We are so thank-ful for all the ladies at BC Animal Hospital. At our previous groomer in Durham, the two poodles would come back scared and thirsty. The larger poodle almost had his spirit crushed and he was not the same for a couple days. more

Watch out for Animal Hospital at Brier Creek 7/8/2011

I wanted to send a warning for folks in the Brier Creek area about the bad experiences I had at Brier Creek Animal Hospital. The biggy was when I went in expecting to pay $150 and the bill was $717 after the fact!! The 'estimate' they send had a big written estimate for $123 on one page. Guess I missed the small print in the middle of heavy text saying dental could range from $250-500. Plus, got a phone call that during the proceedure my cat needed more medication - but no one told me that would add another $150! more

Owner Message
  • In cases of acute or extreme pain, the doctor will often delay the complete adjustment until your companion can be relaxed. How often does my pet need to be adjusted It depends on the reason for the adjustment, and any additional therapies being undertaken (acupuncture, medications, physical therapy). If your pet has an acute injury, it may need weekly adjustments to start. In many geriatric patients, a visit every 4-6 weeks results in an improved quality of life. Healthy, young pets are often seen 3-4 times per year for maintenance. What are dr. Bigsby’s qualifications Dr. Bigsby became involved in chiropractic after a sports injury to herself. While qualifying for the boston marathon, she injured her iliotibial band. Thanks to chiropractic care, she made a full recovery, ran boston and continues to run marathons to this day. Dr. Bigsby attended the veterinary spinal manipulative therapy course at the healing oasis wellness center in wisconsin in 2002. She participated in 200 hours of intensive coursework in small animal and equine chiropractic. She then received further certification by passing the testing by the american veterinary chiropractic association. She has practiced chiropractic on a part-time basis since that time, incorporating it with her more traditional approach to veterinary medicine. Her passion is working with sporting dogs to achieve maximum athletic potential and helping our geriatric patients, who truly can benefit from regular adjustments.
