Charged for additional services I was not informed about and provided poor customer service.
I went to Laurelhurst's clinic to get a women's wellness exam and asked for a female physician. When I got there they set me up with a nurse midwife because no other female physician was available. I explained to her that I had high cholesterol and she offered to have my lipid labs done, which I was happy about. Next thing you know, I'm being charged for additional services I did not ask for and was not informed about, including a blood cell count and metabolic panel (which I had done elsewhere). On top of that, they also performed a STD test, even though I told her I was hesistant to get one because I was sexually inactive but eventually agreed to get it because I felt slightly pressured by her. She said the STD test would be chlamydia and gonorrhea but surprise surprise it also included hepatitis C, herpes, and HIV. If I'm correct, most STD panel's do not include this and they did not tell me of the charge. Then on top of that, I was billed another statement 3 months after my exam for again a blood cell count and metabolic panel for a different date of insurance. Can we say insurance fraud? To make matters worse, it was hard for them to get a hold of me via phone so whenever I would call back to get my test results, the nurse midwife was never available, was either at lunch, or was out for a 4 day weekend. It finally took a month for them to tell me my results over the phone....which by the way she mentioned I should try an iron-skillet to cook my food because I had iron deficiency anemia BUT she never mentioned anything about taking iron supplements. As a healthcare professional myself, I was outraged with this type of service and the bills they sent me for same services, different dates. I DO NOT RECOMMEND going to the Laurelhurst Women's Clinic for anyone who wants good service and honesty. To make matters worse, the receptionists and billing agents were rude to me over the phone.
