Best

I like to check out alot of different japanese resteraunts since japanese food is my favorite. This place has the best food ever...and the staff is very freindly! At the door......

Worst

I don't understand all the previous reviews, because honestly the place just isn't that good. It's OK, the sushi is ok, the service is ok. The menu is so intensive it is confusing...

Editorial review from Citysearch 7/31/2013

Food was amazing! Fresh and delicious. But it was very busy and the services was not as good as we hoped for. I will be back, but it is definitely not my favorite sushi restaurant in Orlando! more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/13/2012

Worst manager I ever seen!\r I used to LOVE this place! This was one of my absolute favorite place to bring my friends and family but not anymore! Last time I brought my GF to have a good time but the food is not as good used to be. I asked about it and my server told me they changed the head sushi chef! So sad. Worst of all the manager lady was not professional and not properate at all! She was dressed sloppy and just hanging out with the male customers. I don't think she is not concern about what's happening in the restaurant. There were bunch of guys were eating right next to our table and one of the guy seems spilled his soy sauce over his shirt. The manager lady went over that tale and proceed take his shirt and washed for him in the back of the restaurant. Not sure this is good for the healthy issue. The guys were seems okey not to bother and actually avoid her but she keeps pushing and take his shirt off and proceeded back to the restaurant to wash it! The most awkward and not comfortable for all the customer were in the restaurant was they guy were sitting topless naked in the restaurant! I thought Amura was a high class sushi restaurant but allow naked guy in the restaurant? All the cusstomers were getting uncomfortable in that situation! Finally when manager came back with the shirt she gave them free drinks and stuff. I guys she appreciated the show or something. I never seen anything like that before in restaurant. The poor servers were keep apologizing to the customers about the situation. I guess it happens a lot in there! I felt uncomfortable to eat there with my GF! I never thought I would write something like this before until I saw all the good comments in here. I just wanna management to consider about the manager and do something about it! \r Concerned sushi lover! more

The best fresh sushi in Downtown Orlando! 10/19/2009

Ranked #1 in Orlando among sushi restaurants and located at Historic Marketplace on Church Street, Amura Japanese Restaurant has earned prominent reputation thanks to its relaxing atmosphere, individualized hospitality, and mouth-watering sushi. Since coming across the colorful and old-style brick park place, we can enjoy the inviting ambience, which inspires us to take a deep breath, loaded with a hearty feeling of peace and love. Then, the welcoming greeting given by the enthusiastic hostess invokes a comfortable warm sensation as a paradisiacal dreamland adventure; also, charming attendants, who are always carrying a friendly smile, delight the lucky visitors with a gracious oriental-accent description about the specialized menu variety offered at Amura Japanese Sushi Bar. At the same time, the freshly prepared seafood aroma expelled from the well equipped kitchen invites us to sit down on either one of the spotless and carefully organized booth tables, or, if you prefer, at the sushi bar cushioned stools, where we have the opportunity to watch the amusing show given by the the professional chefs, who would be pleased to display an interesting spectacle while we decide what to order. Meanwhile, ""suave"" and melodious instrumental music, along with the absorbed guests savoring the soy-sauce scented feast, reveals the such harmonious tranquility anticipates the best sushi in town. After a short yet worthy pause, our lovely waitress serves a recently-cut sushi meal, with an ambrosial fragrance, and the flavor, superb. Without a doubt, Amura Japanese Sushi Bar is the best fresh sushi restaurant in Downtown Orlando. Pros: Excellent service Cons: No parking more

Best Sushi place ever!!! 7/16/2009

We just became fans of the sushi because the only one I eat is the tuna and my wife don't like fish. Someone told us that they have chicken rolls and is just like eat a sushi roll. We went to different places in Orlando to get the chicken teriyaki rolls but we only found one place and we didn't like it. We love this place so much that in the last two months we've been in the restaurant 5 times. The place is great, the people is great, it's not expensive and the food is great. Even the parking is great because this is in downtown Orlando and is close to a parking lot that we always pay $1.50 for 1 hour and a half. We like it so much that we are going today again and I'm dying to take my family to Amura. Pros: Place, Service, People, Food and Parking more

Excellent Sushi and Hibachi 10/5/2008

When visiting Orlando, my husband and I sought out a restaurant with good sushi (for him) and good hibachi (for me). Although none of the on-line descriptions (including their website - which is not helpful at all) indicated that Amura offers hibachi-style cooking (where they cook the food on the grill in front of you), we called and confirmed they did. The meal was fantastic. The sushi was excellent: not the best we've ever had, but very, very good. The hibachi was the best we have had, and we have eaten at 5-10 such restaurants across the country. They season the meat before putting it on the grill, which makes all the difference. Our chef was fairly new, so some of the ""tricks"" they do weren't executed perfectly, but it was still a good show. On the other hand, the food was excellent. They put cooking a good meal above the showmanship. I usually order hibachi steak, because the chicken can be bland. In this case, I ordered a combination of shrimp, steak and chicken. All were excellent, but the chicken was actually better than the steak! I highly recommend this as a place for anyone looking for good hibachi or sushi. It can be a little pricey, but that is true of most good sushi and hibachi restaurants. Pros: Excellent hibachi and sushi, good service Cons: Can be pricey (but not atypical of the food quality) more

it is just the perfect resturant for me 9/12/2008

Sushi has always been scaring to me until that day i put that piece of bubba roll in my mouth.\r Ever since then, amura became my favorite resturant.\r From the bubba roll, to salmon nigiri. My taste changed just for amura.\r Before, I would question my friends, how can you eat fish when it's raw.\r Now, I feel like if I don't have sushi, one day!!! I don't know how life it's gonna be.( Ha ha, not that bad, I am joking.)\r A lot of people I know, know Amura.\r Some like it, some don't.\r What I want to say, I work in a resturant. It is not easy work in a resturant. \r I always respect my servers, they work really hard.\r Especially in a resturant like Amura, busy, very busy.\r They have to deal with different people, different requests, they work very hard.\r Sushi is hand making food, I don't understand why do people think they can walk in a sushi resturant and their food will be ready like they are in Burgerking, or some kind of fast food resturant.\r People make mistake, I do, you do ,everyone does.\r If a server makes a mistake, just tell them nicely to fix it, no need to make a big deal out of it.\r If the hostess tell you there is a wait, common, that's not their fault!\r If you think you don't have time to wait for amura get your sushi ready like a fast food resturant. Go to Publix, their sushi was ready at begining of the day, and has been setting there for the whole day waiting for you to go pick them up!\r I just get really mad when people saying bad things about a resturant for a reason that just because they are so selfish. more

first choice 9/12/2008

if you are a sushi love, i recommen you go to amura.\r if you don't like your fish is raw, i recommen you go to amura .\r if you never had sushi before, just go to amura.\r i do get feed backs about amura's service\r but hello! that resturant is good, their food is good, you can't expect they always have seating for you!\r that is a pulic resturant! they do need business, as much as they can.\r if you want to have a romatic dinner, go there early! or go there on a day you think it will not be that busy,\r but you can't just expect you gonna go there, and the resturant is only open for you!\r get over it, more

Amura is more like a American Japanese Resturant!\r But, what is the matter! We are in America!!!\r They are always busy, which show the rotation of the food,,,there is no way their fish is not fresh!!!\r A lot of people think it's expensive!!! think about how much food do you get at that price!!!\r Their sushi is like King Kong size!!!One roll is enough for me,,, $10 for dinner,,,you can't call that expensive!!!\r I just love it!!!! Pros: everything Cons: none,,,,, more

Amazing Sushi Restaurant 9/7/2008

I have been Amura's customer for more than three years and I have tried all the rolls and It's so amazing especially when you try ""Volcano Roll"" and my favourite is also Bubba Roll. I like the sous they have, such as eel sous, ponzu sous, white sous, spicy mayo, etc and the taste is still the same since three years ago until now. I believe that they have a fixed standard measurement to make all sous. The price is affordable since Amura is the best sushi in Orlando and I think you guys don't mind spending more money to get the best sushi in Orlando. \r The presentation is amazing and looks pretty when they put all the rolls in boat. By the way I also like when they put rolls seperate between rolls that have sous and rolls that don't have sous and I think all the sushi chefs are proffesional since they know how to please the customers with some decorations on plate.\r I believe that the sushi chefs and other employees are a big asset for the company (Owners) and I am sure that the owner will keep them for long time and will take care of them nicely. I always see the sushi chefs always smile and talk to the customers and I don't see that they looks so tired/hungry or whatever. By the way all the employees have one and half hour break that means they can take a rest/ sleep or whatever, so they are ready for dinner. The waiters/waitress are ok and they have been doing their jobs well. Finally I just want to ask all the sushi fans to stop by and try foods at AMURA. I believe you gonna love it and will be back again. Pros: Service and friendly more
