Pretty terrible experience with Alpha Towing. Bullet pointed for your reading pleasure:
- They sent two tow trucks for me, but refused to tow the other car (until the cops pressured them into it)
- They claimed that they couldn?t take my car to my preferred auto body shop because it was closed and couldn?t take more cars (which was entirely untrue). Please note that when they were dispatched to me, they were directed to take my car to my preferred auto body shop and accepted the call based on this.
- Instead of taking my car to my originally requested destination, they recommend to take it to their garage overnight?leaving out that they billed me for 2 days of storage to hold it for 13 hours because it was held from the 7pm of the 29th to the 8 am of the 30th.
- They refused to have the bill paid through my roadside assistance plan. They claimed that this was because I was in an accident and my car wasn?t disabled due to a mechanic problem under warranty.
- Ok, first off, their job is to pick cars up and drop them off?why they are moving cars should be of no concern. My roadside assistance was happy to pay Alpha per their agreement.
- Here?s the real reason they refused payment, my roadside assistance plan would have paid Alpha $119 for the towing, but if rejected their payment and made my insurance pay them, they could price gouge to the tune of $275 per tow?remember, they had to tow it twice per their recommendation of storing it in their garage?which, remember, they charged me for two days for storing it 13 hours.
- They lost parts of my car?namely the bumper which is not an insubstantial piece. Again, their job is to pick stuff up, and drop it off?not to decide what pieces they should be delivering.
And here?s the takeaways:
- Don?t ever have your car towed by Alpha Towing
- When you have your car towed by not Alpha Towing, don?t let the tow company take your car to their lot to hold it for the night (read: two days).
- If you have a local shop that you prefer, you should ask them their policies regarding overnight drop offs so you don?t have to deal with these types of shysters.
Pros: Moved my car from point A to point D by way of points B & C
Cons: They tell lies to make more money
