Aliotta's Via Firenze is unbelievable! 6/28/2010

Arguably one of the BEST restaurants I have been to in the LA metro area ? I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. I was in the LA area several weeks ago on a business trip, and made a reservation here based on a recommendation. Very unassuming from the outside and W-O-W what an intimate beautiful interior! You literally feel like you are in Tuscany with the painted murals and high ceilings. There is a soothing cascading fountain as you enter the front door; a cozy bar area next to the kitchen and a seating area that is impressive. You cannot believe the size, the beauty and the ambiance of this place until you walk in the door. Oversized chandeliers with dimmed lighting, draperies and warm colors surround you. Pros: INCREDIBLE ITALIAN CUISINE Cons: nothing - you will be impressed more

Need to improve service 10/15/2008

We had lunch there for the first time with our business partner. Unfortunately, I would never go back to the restaurant again. I would say that quality of food was okay, not exceptional. Price was a bit expensive for lunch. Decor is okay and reasonably comfortable. It gets noisy lunch time. A waiter who served our table was nice and friendly. However, he was too busy servicing other tables and helping the kitchen. I consider myself as a patient person. However, it was too long for me to wait for a waiter to come to our table. I had to walk up myself to look for our waiter. Having waited for a long time, we decided to leave the restaurant without deserts or coffee. I discovered that 20% gratuity was automatically included in our check because we were a party of six. Unfortunately, the restaurant needs to improve its service to have the first timer becomes a repeat customer. more

un-remarkable, incredibly expensive food. 7/30/2008

We gave Aliotta's a second chance thinking that perhaps our first experience was an anamoly and an ""off"" day. We came to the same comclusion the second time around -The food is edible; but not noteworthy, and very, very expensive; the decor is dated and tacky , the acoustics are bad, and the service is good. Pros: plenty of room in the parking lot Cons: expensive more

very bad 11/16/2007

I was extremely disappointed. Menu had a big selection. Unfortunately, the food got worse as each course was brought out. Most disappointing was my pasta, it was OVER-COOKED and mushy. The pasta was practically falling apart because it had been cooked so long! Our server and the nice lady who took our dishes away were the only part of the experience that was pleasant. I woud not recommend this restaurant to anyone. more

exceptional 2/12/2007

This restaurant provides the ultimate italian comfort food. It is authentic, and every item on the menu is incredible...The owner and his staff are both professional and incredibly personable. The place has a wonderful family feel and the homemade pasta is to die for.. There isn't a better place to have a romantic meal than aliotta's. I was shocked to read some of the reviews on this page...actually I would have been shocked to read about even the mildest disappointment. I think that those who didn't find aliottas to be among the best italian restaurants in at least the south bay should probably stick to olive garden or chef boyardito. Pros: brilliant food, exceptional service, family feel, rustic ambiance Cons: a bit pricy more

FINE DINING Experience! 3/10/2006

If you want to fly into and rocket out of a restaurant this is NOT the place for you. Fine Dining is just that...you sit and ENJOY the ambiance, the music, the person or persons that you bring or meet there, and you savor the food you order and eat. This is NOT fast food folks. I've always enjoyed every visit to Aliotta's Via Firenze. The staff are ALL very friendly, ambiance inviting. High back black leather chairs, black napkins, crisp white table cloths. Fresh baked bread and made to order authentic Italian food. If it's not on the menu they'll make it for you. If you want a trip to Italy to have dinner, you need only to drive as far as Torrance, CA and visit Aliotta's Via Firenze! Bon Apetito! Pros: Welcoming Atmosphere and Staff, Authentic Food. Cons: Cost more

overrated 1/13/2006

i went to this restaurant, which is located literally down the street from where i live, after reading reviews from citysearch. unfortunately, it turned out to be a major disappointment. more than anything, it was overpriced for its value (hole in a wall type of italian restaurant) Pros: service Cons: price more

I LOVE this restaurant 10/31/2005

Aliotta's Via Firenze is the BEST Italian Restaurant EVER!!! The ambience is awesome and the food is even better. I have been there many times and try different dishes as much as possible and I am never dissappointed. The Tortellini Alla Panne is my favorite. Chef Mike is so nice and inviting, he makes a dining experience in his restaurant feel like a trip to Italy just for you! If you have not tried this restaurant you are missing out on a gourmet experience!! Pros: Tortellini, Ambience, Friendly Cons: Expensive more

Best food in the world 8/12/2005

This place has the best food in the world. It makes me feel like i was in Italy for a meal. The service was realy great and so was the food. If you dont like this place you have to be a little crazy. I heard that this restraunt is the best in the south bay from a critic that i know Pros: Best food inthe world, Great service, Food comes quick more

what a disappointment 7/14/2005

I had high hopes based on the reviews on this page-- made a reservation for a Thursday night, celebrating an anniversary. The restaurant was not busy-- not even half full, but we were standing around for a good 5 minutes before we were seated. We then proceeded to wait another half hour without placing an order for food or beverage-- believe me, we tried-- eventually we gave up and walked out. I've _never_ done that before. I'd like to think they were short-staffed that night, but it didn't appear that way. It was a totally bizarre restaurant experience. more

Excellent! 6/6/2005

Aliotta's is a wonderful place for a fine, comfortable, italian meal. The staff is outstanding. They are very eager to make you a part of their family. The food is outstanding and priced very reasonably. My husband and I have dined at Aliotta's a few times and each visit gets better. I would highly recommend Aliotta's Via Firenze to all of my friends and family. more

The best party you'll ever have 5/27/2005

We recently went to a party catered by Aliottas and the food was amazing. Everything was delicious and it was presented so beatifully and there was plenty of food for seconds (and thirds)! Everyone at the party couldn't give enough compliments to the owner/chef Mike! more

Best Kept Secret in South Bay Area 5/25/2005

I was there with some friends, I had the best Itailan Gourmet food Period. I ordered a fish entree which is a filet of Dover Sole. Chef Mike Aliotta (owner of the place) came to my table to filet the whole fish. The fish had an excelent presentation! Finaly I had the best piece of fish in my life! My wife (who is very pickey) orderd Chicken Toscanna. She said it was to die for! The inside of the restraunt was like I stepped into a Tuscan Villa in Italy without spending $900 on airfare. I reccomend Aliottas to anybody who enjoys having a mini GOURMET vacation without leaving LA. Pros: Excelent Food, Excelent Service, Beutiful Ambience Cons: Nothing! more

THE BEST! 11/18/2004

If you are looking for REALLY authentic Italian food... then you want it cooked by Italians, right?! We had filet mignon lasagna... it was soooo good... I can't wait to go again... they make EVERTHING, even their breads... The restaurant itself is beautiful... a great place to go on a date... a must see... expect to pay a bit much... good food isn't cheap... but well worth it... =) Pros: Beautiful setting, Friendly service, Delicious food Cons: , not for business more
