Albertson's Grocery Prices are Extremely High.
The other day I paid $4.50 for a loaf of wheat bread, at
this Albertson's store. The next day at the Beaverton Winco, I saw the
same exact bread for $1.78. Now thats what I call mark up.
The prices are so high at this Albertsons store I have come to treat it like
a over priced convenience store. I keep my Winco receipts in my wallet and just for fun pull them
out when at this Albertsons, I look up the same items on the Winco receipt, and find that the markups are 25 to 50% more expensive. Many times at this Albertson's
store the Electronic check out will charge more then the listed price, when I point it out to the checkers, they give me the correct price and don't apologize for the error. I think this is done deliberately. Its a form of bate and switch. There have been times rather then calling it to the checkers attention, I just pay the higher mismarked price.
This Albertsons store has Shopping Carts placed throughout the store with signs on them ""clearance, prices as marked"". Inside the carts are items with the old style price stickers. This leads the customers to think that they are getting a bargain, when in fact if they will check, they will find that most of the items in the
cart are being sold at regular price. To be fair I have also seen other company's pull this trick.
The produce prices in this Albertsons store are constantly 30 to 50% higher then
the local competing stores.
I think the only reason this store stays in business, is because it is next to
cooper mountains upper middle class who don't care about price.
By spending my grocery money mostly at Costco, Winco, and Trader Joes
I literally save more then two thousand dollars a year.
Albertsons is just another over priced convenience store!
Pros: Its closer to Home then the 7-11
Cons: Very Extremely very high prices!
