Afton Alps is a great place to take kids to ski. The instructors are so helpful. The variety of runs makes it a great place for skiers of all abilities. First rate!

The staff was very rude!! The ranger would come out and follow you along each hole to make sure you were keeping up with the pace of play even when there is nobody out there! I have played courses in River Falls, Eagle valley in Woodbury and these are mush better courses. The Afton course is in bad shape and the greens look like they no have any grass on them. Don't play at all unless you like getting yelled at to hurry up, and the funny thing is that I am a 10 handicap and my brother who I was playing with is a 15 so its not like we were all over the place. more

Skiing 12/7/2008

This is a fun place to ski if you just want to get out for the day. The slopes are nice and you can bring kids as well. This is probably not the best place if you are a really advanced skier or snowboarder, however. more

Fun runs 11/28/2008

Afton Alps is a fun place to ski when in the Minneapolis area. The hills aren't the largest but they have some nice runs and usually a pretty good base. more

Good Skiing for Minnesota 2/14/2008

Afton is only 20 mins out of St. Paul and provides a wide variety of runs, and even one run with some decent moguls. There are several terrain parks with well maintained elements. The rentals were decent but well used but the pro shop was well stocked. A great place to take a family more

18 ski lifts 1/11/2008

There are so many runs that it gets hard to sort them all out but you sure don't get bored. My kids and their friends usually snowboard while I ski and if you want something different you can go on the tubing hill too. If you go on a weekend and need to rent it will take you a while but everybody is friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The lessons are super good for newbies. If you're used to Colorado then you'll be disappointed because this is Minnesota but I think they do a great job there. Runs are kept up well and we have a blast when we go. Food in the chalets is overpriced but I think you could say that of any ski area. more

The area also offers SNOWTUBING activities and features a SNOWTUBE park, a large variety of programs are offered to children and adults. SKI lessons are offered to beginners AS well AS for skiers wanting to advance their skills in the sport. SKI instructors provide group AS well AS private lessons. The area features more than 45 snow trails. CHAIRLIFTS and wonder carpet conveyors. SKI enthusiasts CAN also hire equipment from the rental shops in the area. Additionally. The area CAN BE used for night skiing and SNOWBOARDING. The resort also offers lodging facilities.
