I agree with stitches4snitches, I worked there and you can defend those girls all you want misty but their only concern is NOT for the children but which employee makes their lazy butts look bad. Then they do everything possible to run them off! more

First to Lacey R, it's typical for someone like you to come up with excuses for herself and her child. You are a flat out liar and just seek to harm the reputation of a prior employee of the very company you work for...interesting isn't that? Now, I believe you have something to go design on your computer, rather than spending your time playing on the internet and trying to hurt my business which is defamation. more

My 2 year old son was at one of the best pre schools since returning to Baton Rouge (Cross of Glory), he was truly cared for and loved. They taught and guided him with christian views. Well for work and location purposes (moved to Dutchtown) I moved him and have regretted it since. I feel he is just another toddler to everyone at Adventureland and they could not care any less about him. I tried to pay tuition one time and one girl was scared to accept it as she may lose it...? I'm used to schools direct debting it or having a payment box. It's agony leaving him every morning as the teacher strips him from my hip! At his old school he would proudly walk in, set his things down and begin to play. Now I get 1-2 calls a week about an accident to him. Well his first day back from being in the hospital I get a call he got hurt. I left copies of his discharge papers that stated his restricted activity and they couldn't just show him a little extra attention. His condition (itp) is/was/will be serious. They have never really welcomed us with open arms and I will never recommend this place. It has steadily been a disappointment since he started. My 8 year old was also told he could ride their bus to his school, well they neglected to say it was full until I go to drop them both off the first day of school. It also smells real bad in there and feel none of the kids have connections with the staff. Maybe I wouldnt think this way but I know and have had better care for my kids. His very first school was Christ the King in Fairhope, AL (another great facility) needless to say I'm trying to get him back in cross of glory! more

Adventureland = EXCELENCE 5/12/2012

My daughter has been going to Adventureland for the past 3 years. I have to say this is by far the best program. I have experienced other daycares in BR and Prairieville and Adventureland doesn?t even compare. The owner and the staff truly care about the children. I have felt safe EVERY day after leaving my daughter in their care. The staff is friendly, professional, caring and they take the time to get to know the parents. I have to say I have built great friendships. My daughter has been more than prepared for kindergarten.. She has been taught things that are on a first-fourth grade level. I would highly recommend Adventureland ? the owner (Misty Trahan) knows what she is doing! more

Great PreSchool 9/4/2011

Our son attended Pre-K and summer camp at Adventureland. He loved it and so did we. He was very well prepared for Kindergarten. He learned about the presidents, the solar system, Spanish, the pledge...and SO much more! His teacher was amazing and so was the rest of the staff. I love Ms. Denise, the director. She always went out of her way to welcome us and showed she genuinely cared for our son!!!! more

Wonderful Preschool Program 8/26/2011

My son started at Adventureland during the Pre-K summer camp this year. He absolutely loved it! We had tried other programs and this was the first time every he had asked to go to school. My husband and I decided to keep our son in the program throughout the year. He is 3 and is learning how to write and read. They do projects all the time with the class. Last week he learned about Ben Franklin (at 3... wow!) and this week about Saturn and LA history. I am so impressed with the programs and staff at Adventureland, I am looking forward for my daughter to turn 2 next year and enroll. GREAT PRESCHOOL! I would highly recommend it to anyone. more

GREAT Before/After Care 8/26/2011

Thanks for everything ya'll do! One daughter couldn't go today because of her allergies and she was in the car very upset. The other had a choice to come to Adventureland Kids or stay at home for a fun play day with her MiMi and she picked Adventureland without hesitation. Makes a mom feel great - THANK YOU ALL!!! more

Great PreSchool 8/16/2011

My daughter is attending PreK 3 at Adventureland on Airline and I can't say how impressed I am with the preschool program. In my childs first week of PreK she has learned to start writing letters and numbers, knows how to spell her name, learning site words, states, spanish, the entrie pledge of allegience...and I could keep going. more

christian themes? HA! 6/28/2011

I had the painful learning experience of working there and having a child enrolled. The supervisory staff is nothing less than a bunch of bullies. They scream at the kids using whistles and megaphones and put on ridiculous fronts for the parents. The few staff that DID care about the children , that did offer fun or creative activities were very quickly singled out and then fired for fabricated reasons. The owner is a good person with good intentions but has handed over her power and loyalty to a crazy person who does not care about your child, she ONLY cares about controlling every child, grown up or object in her environment. my child was singled out and bullied not by the other children but by the staff. There are good centers out there that actually have a child development interest but this is not one of them. The megaphone and whistles and contstant screaming for SILENCE from a group of 30 children is ridiculous and they should be ashamed. one supervisors favorite passtime was to walk around spraying the lysol solution in the air. not actually using it to clean , that would mean WORK. adventureland is a scary place. the only reason i'm giving it one star is because i don't have an option of giving it zero stars. more

Worst Ever!! 3/28/2011

I agree that the owner doesnt want to be involved. When I called the center to address an issue that I had with my four year old's teacher, I didnt even get a call back. The teacher would tell us how my child didnt know anything, in front of the entire class and other parents walking in and out of the classroom. My child came home saying that she didnt didnt know anything and that her teacher had told her that. The teacher is a cold person and I have literaly watched a child throw-up on the floor in the classroom and the tecaher fuss at the child while not allowing him to go to the restroom and wash his mouth out. I had to fix my child's breakfast everytime I went to the school in the morning as the teacher sat on her butt and yelled at the kids to be silent. The kids had to sit at a table and they were not allowed to speak half the time. Then, when she would speak to the kids about their homework, she would ask them ""what is this"" while pointing at what was apparently not up to par for her standards, and the child would cry...she was the most insensative person I have ever seen working in a daycare facility and when I had had enough, i called the owner and didnt hear back from her until I called to withdraw my child from the center. This place is a nightmare and I wonder how the kids are when they do make it to primary school...I wonder if they have any self-esteem at ALL! I'm reporting this center to the BBB and I'm going to pursue the damages caused to my child by this daycare and their staff! more

Outstanding teaching 5/14/2010

I highly recommend this school. My child attends the Adventureland on Post Offfice and it has been a great experience. The teachers are great and the curriculum is very structured. They have also added a Montessori teacher to the staff. My daughter has learned so much in such a short time. On top of the basic Abc's , 123's shapes, colors, etc, she also knows a lot of sign language and a good bit of Spanish. She has come a long way since attending the program and will definitely go back next year. I will also be sending my 2 year old there as well. They are licensed teachers, not babysitters!! Thanks Adventureland. Pros: teachers/curriculum more

DO NOT take your 2 year old to Adventureland! 8/26/2009

Do not take your 2 year old to Adventureland!? My son attended Adventureland on Post Office Road in June 2009, the very first time of 2 years olds classes were offered. It was an awful experience! Traditionally, Adventureland is use to working with 3+ year olds. After 2 days, the teachers complained about how he takes away attention from the other kids and is a handful to deal with. Hello!! He is going through a normal ""terrible twos""!! Not to mention, he has never been in a daycare setting before. Adventureland must not have realized how different 2 and 3 year olds are....BIG DIFFERENCE! I felt like they should have worked with him a bit more to help him adjust before giving up on him. I will never truely know what happened when I left him with them, but it was not good! Everytime we drive pass the school, he cries and seems to be in distress! STAY AWAY! Cons: Limited training with 2 years olds more

Good Experiences 8/14/2007

My son has been attending Adventureland in Prairieville for his third school year. Although I agree that the counselors are young, I believe that the owner of Adventureland is very meticulous in addressing problems and maintaining a fun and safe environment for the children in her care. My son has also attending summer camp there as well, and really enjoys the field trips, the staff and the friends he has made. My biggest decision in choosing Adventureland is because they only accept school age children (ages 5-12) and therefore the activities available are more age appropriate, as opposed to a ""day care"" facility. I would recommend Adventureland in Prairieville. Pros: Age specific activities; adult and young adult counselors more

Think twice! 12/28/2006

My child had a horrible experience here. Most of the counselors are very young and immature with no training. Owner refuses to deal with problems. Children are allowed to run wild and tease other children endlessly. The children are not separated by age so you have very small children mixed in with children as old as 14. My child learned many bad things from the older children and was picked on by both the older children and counselors. Many times the children are ignored while counselors visit with each other, parents, and owner. Counselors do not play with children, there is no organization, and no planned activities. Also be aware that in the mornings the children are made to sit at the tables for long periods of times (sometimes over 30 minutes) while the main counselor is gone to drop off children at another school. This seems to be a staffing problem. - I am an educator and have worked in a before and aftercare program for many years- this one is absolutely the worst in my opinon. Ascension parish is in desparate need of a quality program for children. Cons: Untrained/uncaring staff/owner, teasing, unorganized, no activities, & too many others more
