It Ain't The Sheraton... 10/22/2006

And really. I think that's a good thing. This is not a generic chain. It's a unique, budget hotel. The decor is interesting, but might seem a bit flimsy. I loved this place, it was centrally located (if you have issues with homeless people, you may want to avoid Belltown, where the hotel is located), reasonably priced and they serve continental breakfast until noon! Honestly, we didn't spend that much time hanging out in our hotel room, and it wouldn't have been all that comfortable if we had due to it's small size. It was a very comfortable place to sleep and regroup. We had a deluxe room with our own bathroom, it was austere, but wholly accomadating. I did notice that the shared bathrooms looked perfectly acceptable, and we could have saved even more money if we had stayed in one of those rooms. Parking was something of a pain, there is a pay lot two blocks down the street, you can purchase 24 hour passes for $17. It is a bit inconvenient to have to drag your luggage up First Avenue at 9:00 on a Friday night... The wifi in the rooms was really convenient though...\r The staff is somewhat hipsterish, but they were very sweet and accomadating to us. The Ace is a great deal, but if you're expecting the Embassy Suites, you might want to stay somewhere else. Pros: Continental Breakfast til noon, cool decor, low price Cons: Parking, The Vague Sketchiness of Belltown more

Cool Place in Great Location 9/5/2006

My boyfriend and I went to Seattle in Early August for a two and and a half week trip to the Pacific Northwest and we started at the Ace Hotel. I had researched the hotels in Seattle pretty well and thought this one sounded like the best deal for the money. We were greeted with immense hospitality upon arrival, which included complimentary breakfast in the morning, and tea and coffee all day long (the coffee was great, definately met Seattle's standards). We got the deluxe room, because I wasn't to keen on sharing a shower, but after being there I don't think I would have minded, because you receive complimentary bathrobes and the decor is pristine and modern. All of the staff were so accomodating, they even put some beers in our room as a nice gesture. They made reservations for us for dinner at night, and had quite good recommendations. The neighborhood, in Beltown, was a perfect location for seeing Seattle by foot. We walked to Pike Place, through Beltown, and to where the Space needle and museums were. We felt so relaxed at the Ace that we didn't want to leave so we returned there at the end of our trip to reccoperate and get one more last bit of luxury at the Ace Hotel. Oh one more cool thing is the great art that is different in every room. more

Ace is the place! 12/5/2002

Even without a hot tub or vending machine, this is the only place I stay when coming to Seattle. A fabulous staff and lovely rooms adorn the Ace. I feel like a rock star from Modest Mouse when I check-in and always cry when I have to leave. Pros: tremendous staff, lovley rooms Cons: need vending machine more

LOVELOVELOVE IT! 11/25/2002

I read about the Ace in last year's Best of article, and made reservations for Memorial Day weekend 2002. We loved everything about it! Our room was immaculate, the staff was friendly and helpful and the location is prime! We stayed in the room NEXT to the revolving door room, and next year we hope to saying in the corner room with its own bath. We would definitely recommend and HAVE to friends and family. Was a great part of our trip. Pros: location, clean, unique Cons: no parking lot, shared baths, upstairs more

Very cool hotel. 11/17/2002

If you're visiting Seattle, The Ace Hotel is a great place to stay at an affordable price! The location is great. There are tons of good restaurants within a 3 block radius of the hotel and the staff was friendly and very helpful. The rooms are somewhat bare but in a comfortable and stylish way. Pros: cool design, affordable, great location more

Simple 6/2/2002

If you are a modern minimalist, you will love the Ace. Cab distance from the down town and the water front. Nice bar downstairs, one of the coolest places to stay in Seattle. more

See you at the Ace! 6/2/2002

I've been to the Ace three times now, and I'll definitely go back. The Ace isn't for those people who want luxury, but the rooms are clean and the service is friendly and helpful. Last time I was there, the lady at the desk helped me form a walking tour of the city and recommended various restaurants, sights, and so forth. If you can spend a little more money, get a deluxe room--you'll love the revolving bathroom doors and the room itself is quite spacious. The location of the hotel is also great; it's near tons of fun shops and fab restaurants. See you at the Ace! Pros: great location, inexpensive, nice design Cons: few amenities, not luxurious, sometimes noisy more

Worth it for the location & concept 5/30/2002

The Ace is certainly a fun place to stay--and you can't beat this location. I've got a love/hate thing with the decor, though. The minimalist approach certainly *looks* cool, but I'd like to see more ammenities for the kind of money I dropped to stay here. Still, next time I'm in Seattle I'll probably stay here again. Pros: location more

Bling bling with out the ching ching... 5/22/2002

I have stayed several times and will be back in June! I love the concept and design! The staff is so freindly and helpful and always give me the Seattlites perspective on what to do... I hear there expanding and I can not wait to see the new rooms! You could not get a better place to stay in Seattle...I feel like Im in NY or the Netherlands! Pros: Friendly, Immaculate, Affordable more

Good location and environs 5/19/2002

You don't get as many amenities as you'd expect here, considering the price. The phone and TV in the room, for example, seem like they belong to a dilapidated, roadside motel. Basically, you're paying for the cool design (huge, pivoting mirror-door to the bathroom; lots of white everywhere; sparse decor; hard-wood floors; stark, Scandinavian-esque furnishings) and for the location it's a trade-off. more

Location, location, location 5/14/2002

You're paying for the location here, because the rooms don't live up to the price points. Sure, the retro-Scandanavian concept is nice, but I expected a little more luxury for this price. Nevertheless the Ace is right in the middle of downtown and very close to all the bars, restaurants, stores, etc. The staff are nice but spaced-out. more
