Academy Sports and Outdoors

Over all this is a nice store, but i seem to have not so good experiences at the gun counter as I stand waiting to make a purchase and cannot get anyone to help me to get a crossbow. It seems the kids behind the counter cannot multitask and it takes two of them to get one thing done. Then one proceeds to tell me how he was one of the one that tried to vote against legalizing crossbows in Texas because he want the national forest to himself. No one was even able to look on the computer to verify that more of the product that I am looking to buy will be available. Really need some training in customer service, and efficiency. more

This store is great for almost all your outdoor needs. I have made several purchases here from small items like tennis shoes to big items like guns. 99% of the time I am completely satisfied with the service that I get at this store. Most of their staff is very knowledgeable about the items that they sell in the store. Just be careful when you are purchasing a gun cause if you're not sure what you are looking for the person behind the counter might not be the "expert" you might expect them to be. This happened to me and I ended up with something I couldn't use and they have a no return policy on their guns!! That was a major pain cause I was out over $400.00. The staff is also very friendly and you always get through the check out lanes fast. You never have to wait. Most of the time you can get Adidas tennis shoes cheaper than most of the other stores and they have a great selection of shoes too. more

If you love the outdoors than this is the store for you. It has a little bit of every outdoor activity that you can think of. They have a great selection of fishing stuff and when I have the money I like to run up there and see what I can find to add to my tackle box. They have a good selections of hand guns and rifles. We've actually bought a gun from here but if your not 100% sure you want the gun then don't buy it cause they have a no return policy. My wife loves to buy her tennis shoes here. She can always find ones that she likes and fits her feet good. She's so picky. She's even been able to find some clothes that she likes too. We bought our daughters bike from here and she couldn't be more happier with her Dora bike. Of course it would be better if it wasn't so hot outside. They also have a hunting section and quite a few barbeque's and smokers. The staff are friendly and helpful and the store is always clean, you hardly see anything out of place. more

Academy Sports and Outdoors is a nice store. They have a wide selection of items and most are reasonably priced. The store in Lufkin has a great staff and it is always kept clean. People are always there to help if you need them or if you have a question about something. If they don't know the answer to a question they try and find out. There is a wide variety of sporting equiptment and workout equiptment that many people use. They even have shoes for different things like walking, running, tennis, bowling, football, soccer, etc. The store is pretty good. The only thing I wish they would change at all Academys is that they need to carry bowling equiptment. All they carry are a few shoes but no balls or anything. That's the only thing I dislike because I know there are quiet a few people out there that still go bowling. All together Academy is a great store and you can usually find anything you want relating to sports, fishing, hunting, or anything else outdoors. more
