I worked with Billy and Mike from AAMCO of Charlotte. First, I spoke with Billy, and he took the time out of his schedule to really explain the entire process of what rebuilding my transmission would entail. It didn't feel like I was talking to a shady mechanic. He gave his honest opinion, which I truly appreciated, because it made me feel comfortable making the decision to let them fix my car. Mike was just as good as Billy, and he went even further into detail about the issues I had with the repair. He took time out and fixed the issue I was having. Aamco of Charlotte was able to work with me to dig up historical records that were several years old to take advantage of a Honda recall rebate program, which saved me a lot of money. In a separate incident, they were able to work with me on a repair they had done, where the part failed just outside of the warranty period. They replaced it for me, free of charge, and I really appreciate all their work. They do a good job, and they're priced reasonably. more

The guys at Aamco of Charlotte are great! Mike and Billy are the two folks I dealt with. They were very responsive. Unfortunately, the transmission had to be replaced. We had to be without our car for four or five days for the first and second time. That somewhat taints it, but I'm not sure if that was their fault. It broke down fairly quickly, which was frustrating. That impacts the overall experience. In terms of Mike and Billy, they couldn't be any nicer and helpful. It was a frustrating result, at least at at the outset. more

We took my son's car to AAMCO of Charlotte. Mike took a look at the car and informed me of what his opinion was. They did a total rebuilt on the transmission. Mike was very helpful and honest with me and he walked me through the process like he was fixing the car for his own child. more

It was fine! Aamco of Charlotte diagnosed the issue and gave me a quote. It was a little higher than the quote, and they said it was because of expenses that couldn't be recognized until they got into the analysis. The actual price was more than the dealership. I initially called Aamco of Charlotte and spoke to Billy, who was my contact throughout the process. He was warm, welcoming and went the extra mile to make sure everything was taken care of for me. They communicated often throughout and treated me well. I felt like I was treated with the respect deserved for such a large project, not just like another customer. The reason only for a 4 is that, though they had very good communication, they missed something in the evaluation. So after the rebuild, it didn't perform correctly, and they had to keep it for another 5 days to do it again. more

Transmission issues that were diagnosed by 3 others, all estimated about the same. Well, my Uncle directs me to come here, I go... Get an estimate for $1,4k with a possible additional $350. Ok...I can live w/that. In my head, "Let's plan for $2-2,200"...Just In Case! Well, they charge a $600 fee just to take out the transmission & look at it. When they called me back, now the "ESTIMATE" jumps to $3,250...Arrrgghhhh!@$%&*. What's the problem I inquired? Oh well they found this & that wrong with it and everything needs to be replaced. Well Sir, that's a bit out of my budget. I began to think of the other mechanic who quoted me $1,250 to rebuild & replace... I'll just take it to them. So I said, "I can't afford that, need my car fixed, but that?s too close to the quote for a new transmission from the manufacturer ($4k). (Side bar: Car just turned 6 yrs, I'm the only owner & driver& its just shy of 100k miles). Back to the conversation: "Can you put the transmission back it & I'll come & pick up the car b/c I can?t afford that at this time. I'll just take my chances & drive the car until it dies on me since I do local driving".Well the friendly gentleman managing the place states: "It'll be an additional $700 to do just that- to put it back in the car". So it's going to cost me just to open up the transmission $1,300... OH MY LAWRD!!!!! Why didn't he tell me that the $600 I agreed to would be an additional $700 just to put it back in if I decided not to proceed once they supposedly diagnosed the car. WOW!! Lesson Learned: Make sure I never go back here & tell the world of this situation hence why I'm writing this. I just hope not being a female w/ out of state plates got this price sky high. Aamco of Charlotte did a transmission replacement for me. The price they were charging was low initially but then it turned out to be higher than what I expected. It also took longer than I expected. They provide a good service but it takes a little longer sometimes because they are so busy and because they do good work. more

I had AAMCO rebuild the transmission in my wife's car. I had to go back there recently to have the transfer case replaced. We have had to do the whole thing over the last 3 1/2 years, the transfer case being the most recent. Other than how much it's been hitting my wallet, everything has been okay. more
