I had a problem with the transmission on my 2003 Mazda MPV. I took it to the Mazda dealership in town. Once they looked at it, they said that I needed to replace the transmission. I asked for an explanation why and was not given very good information on what the problem was. When pressed for an answer, the service consultant said that they would not diagnose the problem with the transmission -- rather they identified that there was a problem and the solution was to replace the entire thing, which I was told would cost $4,700. I said that was too much, so a day later I was told the price was $3,700. In the end, I was charged $140 for the dealership to tell me there was a problem with the transmission, which I already knew. Rather than have the dealer fix the transmission, I took the car to Aamco in Athens and they figured out that my transmission was fine.
