I use to frequent this store. However, and this is a BIG however, they sell puppies. Being in the dog business I know that dogs in pet stores or online are the biggest promoters of puppy mills. And puppy mills mean cruelty and dogs with medical and socialization problems. Even if they say they have papers, this can be falsified. I cannot stand by ANY store that sells dogs. They should stick to what they do best. Birds,fish, and amphibians. I use to love this store. Sorry. more

I've been in this store many times and bought a few different pets from them. I've always found them to be highly knowledgeable, always willing to help me with my questions and incredibly loving to my animal's when I bring them in for a visit. They have a great array of fish, birds, reptiles, puppies and so many more. All of the animal's are well cared for and the staff takes great pride in caring for them. If you're looking for a new member of the family, go to Kevin and Sean's A Place for Pets you won't be disappointed. more

I'm glad to have this pet store so close to home. I've been a licensed veterinary technician for almost 30 years and it pleases me to see the animals so well cared for. I usually head for the birds first and I like to just stand and watch them. The are so healthy and active and the cages are alway neat and clean. They carry the best selection of zebra finches within a 15 mile radius. I know, I've checked them all out. I've gotten all my more unusual zebras from them. I had spent the better part of the summer trying to find a pair of fawns and a pair of pure whites - they special ordered them for me and I had them for my collection within a couple of weeks. Now that's service! I also got my chestnut-flanked whites, a cream and a lightback from them and I've seen that they have blackcheeks occasionally. more

Well firstly I should probably interject that I have a lot of experience with animals, primarily exotics, and have personally worked in four pet stores in the last eight years. (This one not being one of those four) Pros: Good variety, clean, seem always stocked up. Cons: Unprofessional employees that lean towards the rude side more

Happy teachers and students loved this pet store for coming to their school to talked about animals. The speaker from the pet store was great and full of interesting information. We all wanted to go see this amazing store after the school visit. The pets that were brought looked happy and healthy. #1 Pet Store in my book! We have been going to the Place for Pets since they opened. Every time we walk threw the door we are greeted by staff that will help with anything [from lizards to dog food]. We have purchased a Dog, Rabbit, Lizard, fish and 1000's of crickets. Each one of our animals was care for by the staff and they are all healthy and very happy. Our Papillon was so small that the staff took her home every night to make sure she was o.k. she is happy and healthy and does not even mind getting her toenails cut. We have a older lab and they help with his food and what new in the latest joint care. Even the Lizard that i was not thrilled about has grown on me. And my son loves to watch him eat. And everything we buy is very reasonable in price. I have sent everyone i know to the Place for Pets and we will keep buying pets from them. I know every pet in the store will be taken care of in a clean and safe environment with the utmost of love. Pros: everything you would want of any pet. Cons: not taking them all home. more

A great pet store. I've been going there for 2 years now for everything. A pet store that has all types of critters and supplies from guinea pigs to dogs to preying mantis eggs to bird toys and dog spa treatments. Staff is very helpful and informative. I go there mainly for saltwater fish and accessories. My dog Reggie accompanies me in hopes of snagging a dog chew treat. I would not in any circumstances recommend this pet store, A Place For Pets. Although they have a large variety of different animals and fish, including chameleons and several species of tarantula spiders as well as numerous snakes, they have an unclean and dingy store. The rabbits and guinea pigs were in a container with a home-made appearance, the sides made out of a clear plastic, and it had no lid or top at all. In the small animal section, the pets were crowded in make-shift containers, and I saw on my first visit an open litterbox filled with live mealworms lying on the floor, which I narrowly avoided stepping on. The next time I entered the store I went deeper into it, where I discovered the puppies, far in the back. They were kept in a wall of small wire containers. Some of the puppies cages were completely bare, without food, water, or a blanket to cover the wire bottom of the cage. They were charging about $800 for a puppy, and though most of the dogs were purebreds, for the same price that you can buy a show-quality dog from many professional breeders who have socialized and friendly puppies. Some of the puppies had runny eyes, and though I was right in front of them, none of them showed any reaction, not even moving. In the times I have been in the store, I have never seen more than two employees and was not approached by them. All in all, I was extremely unimpressed with the store and its quality, and I would not recommend it to anyone I know.
