Their schedule was at least 30 minutes behind we didn't get a phone call to let us know ahead of time and the atmosphere was tense, our services were okay and this was on a Monday...

Healing Spa Experience from a Spa With Spirit 8/16/2010

I loved A New Spirit...it wasn't the ""cookie cutter"" spa but had it's own unique feeling. Although it didn't have the really posh robes and slippers, it had something entirely different - a welcoming spirit and thoughtful details that made you feel like you were visiting a good friend's home. more

Poor excuse for a spa! 8/10/2010

Terrible customer service, the front desk person....I think her name is Andrea was very rude and lacks people skills. My massage appointment started 10 minutes late, so instead of a 60 minute massage I only got a 40 minute max. The massage was awful, it just felt like she was rubbing lotion on me. The foot bath was a joke. I could have done my own foot bath at home and it wouldn't of cost a thing. I left more stressed. There are plenty of good spas in Denver that I would rather go to. Not worth the money more

PERMANENTLY SCARRED!!! 7/28/2010

I didn’t enjoy anything of my experience at A New Spirit Spa. I was really looking forward their exclusive “Float Tank” experience. Well it wasn’t relaxing. The water was Luke warm and by the time I got out I was literally shivering. Then I had a hot stone massage. During my hot stone massage twice I had to have the Massage Therapist remove the stone on my hip because it was too hot. I didn’t realize the heat wasn’t radiating up my back and the other stones were too hot as well. The day after my massage I realized I had a blister and it popped so when I was taking a shower I realized I was burned during my massage. The second day after my massage I contacted the Spa. I called and sent an email with 2 photos of the burn on my spine. Still to this day the owner has NEVER called me. FIVE DAYS after my initial contact about the problem the Owner responded to me via email. Their response was that the burn didn’t come from the Massage Therapist and they would not refund any money. They claimed to not see any burn on my back in the photos whereas anyone else can clearly see the burn. It’s a perfect round burn on my spine where several layers of flesh were burned. A medical professional confirmed that. Yes I have a birth mark but that is much higher on my back. The Massage Therapist told the owner of the salon the burn was a birth mark. That is NOT a true statement. The Massage Therapist put the hot stones on my spine and then denied it. Any photo you can find on the net has the stones directly on the spine. They offered me to come in and meet with their aesthetician to look at the burn. Also they offered another hot stone massage from the same Therapist. I find that highly amusing. I was not about to go back to a place where I was burned and they took no ownership of the damage to my body. If you do research you’ll find that burning from the stones does happen in this kind of massage. If he wasn’t wearing gloves maybe he would have had a better feeling for how hot the stones actually were. I gave them the chance to make it right but they denied all ownership. $105 would have made this all go away but they wouldn’t refund my money. Now I have to seek legal counsel. I do not recommend this Spa to anyone. more

Best massage ever 7/10/2010

If your live in Denver, this is the place to go. Their therapists are outstanding. I been going there for 4 years now and I still love it. LB more

I love this Spa 2/9/2010

I stumbled upon this spa and I was very impressed. I enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable. I have had massages, facials, and detox foot baths. All of my experiences have been great. I wish it was closer to my side of town I would frequent more often. It is worth a visit. I love when you go into the entrance and you can take your shoes off or leave them on. When I walked into the spa I immediately felt relaxed. I love this Spa and it fits all my needs. more

Best place for pregnant ladies ANYWHERE! 6/29/2009

OK, so I tried the whole float thing. I was a bit nervous the first time, but my friend was TOTALLY right - I don't know why doctors don't just tell us preggos to be in a float tank all the time. This place is awesome! The first time I went in, the whole idea was a bit - umm - peculiar? - but there really isn't anything like a zero-gravity environment to ""take a load off."" I guess you know - but having that weight relieved was HUGE. When I got out, I felt like I'd spent some time with Tyler WITHOUT having to carry him around - as silly as that sounds. When I went in again, I'd had a really bad day and gotten a big unexpected bill. I thought about canceling my appointment, because I didn't think I could really relax, but it was just that afternoon so I went in. I didn't really get my mind off it. I came out of the float tank still a bit stressed, but as I walked out the door, noticed I was smiling anyway. And even after talking with John, and you know how he gets, I was still in a great mood! I finally used up my gift certificate this weekend when I went in on Sunday. I think I just fell asleep in there. I came out, feeling great, and tried out one of their prenatal massages - INCREDIBLE. I'm convinced, and John bought some more floats when he picked me up (and used one up! yesterday). He was pretty excited by the whole experience and I think we'll be fighting over who gets the next one. BTW - the guy they have working the counter on weekends is CUTE, with a charming foreign accent. Pros: actual relief! Cons: none!! more

Wonderful Experience 4/5/2009

One of my clients had given me a SpaFinder gift certificate for Christmas, so as I was searching for a spa, I was drawn to A New Spirit. I was curious about the floatation tank, so I booked it for an hour, followed by a one hour massage. The tank was very cool! It was very relaxing, and with the warm water and soft music, I was asleep within minutes. After my time was up in the tank, I went for my one hour massage with Barbara, and she was awesome! I was very pleased with the calm and soothing atmosphere and with the staff. The environment was very clean, and the staff was very warm and friendly. I was long overdue for some pampering and they saw to it that my needs were met. I've already told several of my friends about A New Spirit, and I will definitely return in the future. It's my new favorite place! more

Denver's hidden secret!! 11/21/2008

My girlfriends and I went here to relax and we LOVED it! I cannot say enough great things about this spa, I loved my massage and the floatation session helped to loosen up my muscle tightness. Andrea was great to work with and was extremely knowledgeable, its always nice to be in the care of someone you can trust!! All of us loved everything about our visit from the foot soak to the massage and have decided to come back!! This is my favorite spa, hands down! (I am comparing this spa to ones I have been to in Michigan, Seattle and California) THE BEST! Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

LOVE THIS PLACE!! 7/5/2008

One of the best massages I have EVER had!! Our family was recently in Denver for our very first time with our middle sons soccer tournament. I called several places/spas to try and accomodate four massages and a pedicure at the same time for some of our soccer moms. Although several returned phone calls, only one was COMPLETELY accomodating and that is the owner of A New Spirit, Andrea. She is the GREATEST!! Although they do not do pedicures, she got the other soccer mom in for her first facial ever at the same time as our four massages. We ALL agreed that this is one of the best massages that we have ever gotten. This only goes to show that if all four are that good, talented and professional, Andrea only hires the top of the field. I should know, because, I too am a massage therapist and about as picky as they come. Also, our friend with the facial....came out literally floating and also added on feet and hand treatments. We have ALL said that when we go back to Denver, we will return here again and again. You MUST go! Do not give any other place a second thought because there can not possibly be any better massage, facial, more beautiful, peaceful, or, most of all, accomodating place than this. Thank you, Andrea, and all of our WONDERFUL massage therapists and facialist!! You made our time in Denver one of the best!! Pros: staff, atmosphere, professionalism, accomodation more

Unbelievably disappointing!!! 4/29/2008

Well for starters. The pictures you see on the website is not even the actual spa. Total false advertising there. I decided to give it a shot cause it was close to the hotel I was staying at. When I walked in it smelled of rotten fish food due to the foul fish tank that greets you as you enter the reception room. I almost tripped over all the shoes as I walked in and all around there were these dried up deceased house plants that were in dire need of being composed. I was greeted by who I was told was the owner. She looked like she had just been to the gym and hadn't brushed her hair in a week. Not to mention the slue of all her sports drinks and junk all over the desk. I was booked for a hour and a half massage and salt rub exfoliation and she said I was only on the books for a one hour and made me out to be a liar. What about the customers always right policy? The massage therapist was wonderful and I had no complaints there. After my massage the owner offered me a complimentary foot detox bath. It pulls out toxins from your body out your feet into a tub of water. Well she sets me up right in front of the waiting room for all to see. No privacy or consideration was shown to me. To top it all off she pours my nasty toxic water into the toilet that everyone uses. How disgusting is that! I can't believe I actually used it earlier. If I had know they pour and splash waste all over it all day I wouldn't have stepped foot in there. Over all the place is low class and a sorry excuse for a spa. Apparently they have these floats tanks but judging by the sanitation of the place I rather take a dip in the East River. Bottom line.......don't waste your time and money here. I travel all over the country and get spa treatments. A New Spirit tops the list of the worst spas I've been to. If you could even call it one. more

This Place is Awesome: 1/28/2008

My husband and I are regulars here and LOVE this place. It has a great atmosphere and the staff make you feel so relaxed and very comfortable. I highly recommend A New Spirit, especially for massages! I haven't had a facial here so I would only assume that the facials are as good as the other services. I did buy the skincare products that they sell and my skin has never looked better! Pros: Atmosphere and GREAT massages! Cons: Parking is on street. more

Never again. 11/27/2007

First, the massage therapist was chewing gum during the massge, so that was all I could concentrate on. She also seemed to be in a big hurry.... I couldn't even relax. Then, the facial mask burned my face due to "enzimes". After the massage and facial, the robes they provided were all frayed and tattered... hopefully at least clean?!?? I tried the "float tank" and YUCK! Not only was I totally uncomfortable and bored out of my mind, the tank was actually dirty! It had chunks of black stuff floating around. I even got out of the tank and almost went to the front to request my money back... I wish I had! The shower after "my float" left everything to be desired. They had "all natural" soaps and shampoos. There was hair dryer "available", but no mirror or outlet! The comb provided wasn't even clean... It had brown hair still in it, so I didn't even brush my hair! Finally, the "detox" is bunch of hokey! It a foot bath that supposedly pulls the toxins out through your feet with an electrical thingy. Granted, the water was disgusting after 10 minutes, but I highly doubt it had anything to do with my body. I will never go here again and I don't suggest you do either! more

a nice treat! 11/19/2007

All in all, our experience at A New Spirit was pretty good. We went in for the Romance Package for Two. This package includes an aromatherapy foot bath, wine and chocolates, couples massage and then either a mini facial or foot reflexology. A few things prevented me from giving it a higher rating than 3 starts. First was the check-in process seemed a little unpolished for a spa, second was the aromatherapy foot bath. This was actually just soaking your feet in a little plug-in foot bath that you can buy at Target or anywhere else. I don't know if there were any aromatherapy oils or anything in the foot bathes other than water. Hmmm. The massages and mini facials were great and the staff were very talented at making us relax. Something for you all to consider, should you get this treatment, is to bring along a hat for afterwards. My hair was reeeally greasy after the massage and facial, and I looked very strange walking out of there. Pros: price, location, good massage therapists Cons: foot bath, check-in process more

An oasis where you wouldn't expect one location-wise - pocket full of paradise! 10/27/2007

My 1st time to A New Spirit was an extremely positive one and the beginning of many repeat visits to come. I did a little research and The Woodhouse (ranked as #1 for Best Massage) got enough negative ratings for me to question it. Didn't go for #2 as well (Revive Spa) because they did not offer a 90-min massage for deep tissue, which I sorely needed. Therefore I ended up at the New Spirit Spa, and I have to admit they've got me as a customer for good. I heard that they do *not* do pedicures there, for ladies looking for that service; however I did see 2 people (1 going in, the other when I was leaving) getting everything else conceivable done for their feet. My massage was with a wonderful lady by the name of Kathryn, who I can vouch is a consummate professional at what she does -- and yet is very holistic and compassionate and will do everything in her power to help you walk out feeling fantastic. The lighting in the room was subdued but not completely darkened, the bed was very supportive and the sheets and pads were very clean -- no holes in as were reported at a few other high-end places! Soft, ambient music completes the escape from everyday life. The oil she used was not overly slick and was a nice complement to her skilled hands. I was able to get the pressure I needed and the force did not increase into the teeth-gritting painful zone that sometimes occurs. Kathryn is a woman of great skill and talent in her field, but I was told by the front desk person Kristin that every one of their therapists are very skilled and amazing, talented people. The business itself is somewhat smaller (not tiny, certainly) than the huge places you might find elsewhere, but I found that this lent more to the charm that being here already cast on me. It is a wonderful place to getaway for an hour or 2 and you will not leave here feeling unpampered!!! They also have in general very gracious business hours to help accomodate working professionals! Pros: Amazing masseuse and very good value, leaving room for generous tips! Cons: The minutes will spin by very quickly here :( :( Everyone has to leave Paradise... more

Zen-like Comfort 8/3/2007

If you're really looking for a comfortable place to relax, then look no further. Great staff. Variety of services. Try out the float tanks. It's such a cool experience to be in a dark quiet place with zero gravity. Great for your body and mind. The massage therapists offer a variety of services including Reiki, cranial sacral, prenatal and neuromuscular massage. The prices are reasonable for a spa experience. Their aestheticians are licensed and professional. The hours on Monday and Tuesday are extended to 8pm which is great for someone that works late and they are open all weekend including Sunday. Very low key and zen-like. Pros: parking, atmosphere, float tanks, staff knowledge, customer service, hours more

Great place to relax 5/16/2007

I have sent my mother AND my husband for their birthdays for all day treatments. They both felt comfortable and really enjoyed the day. It will send many others as well as me for a fun treat. more

Realxing get a way in your neighborhood 5/16/2007

I can't get enough massages in my life time and decided to try New West because of the location convience. I booked the romance package, on a weekend. The staff was warm and welcoming. I will say I don't like taking my shoes off in a public place, unless I'm offered slippers or something else to wear. They took us back on time. The ""footbath"" was cold and the warm fireplace was fake and plugged in to the wall? However the massage was awesome. We both got different kinds of massages and really enjoyed them. They served us wine, but the chocalate was just hersey's kisses. Pretty cool experience, and ambiance, oh and the price is affordable. They have a few things to work on, but I'd go back and next time I'm trying the float tank thing! Pros: location and skill Cons: new buisness with kinks more

I've been to A New Spirit 6 times and each time I've had a great Massage! I've also had two of the most relaxing facials ever there. Last time I tried the detox foot bath, it was crazy it pulled my toxins out thru my feet. I could actually see whats ailing me, crazy! Many of my friends swear on the floatation therapy, I'm going to try it next time for sure. I recommend this spa to all of my friends, it's great! Hope this helps, friends more
