59 Diner

I've only been to the 59 Diner on the Katy Fwy. It used to be just off Wirt, but got moved just past the Sam Houston Tollway because of the Katy Fwy expansion. There's also another 59 Diner on Shepherd, just north of the 59 Fwy, and is probably the original location. I too enjoy this place. It does indeed feel like I've just walked into a diner from the 50s. All that Formica and chrome everywhere. The Cushman Eagle on display. The menu is simple, down home cooking. Nothing fancy, just good food and lots of it. I am especially fond of their chicken fried steak. The chicken strips basket is my daughter's favorite. Their blue plate specials are also good. The sides are killer, and they have a large selection to choose from. They have booth and counter seating and can get quite busy, but the wait staff is efficient and has always been able to handle the rush without our feeling forgotten. The 59 diner has an unique ambiance, just visiting there will put a smile on your face. The decoration of the restaurant is a blast from the past, its as if you took a time machine to the 50s! Not only is the atmosphere fantastic, the food is good too. I prefer the breakfast menu the most, however the other food is just as great, even the kids find something to please them on the children's menu. I do not have a bad thing to say about the 59 diner, my experience was great from the moment I walked through the door. This is actually my first time to write a review on anything .... I just wanted to share with others. Everyone should visit this fabulous Houston Hot Spot at least once ! Pros: Ambience, Food, Service, Value Cons: do not have any more
