My thermostat wasn't working. I just had some housework done, so I knew the problem was just a loose connection somewhere. When I explained this to Parka on the phone and asked him for a general price, he said he couldn't give me one, but that it would be reasonable.
The electrician took about an hour to get here and another hour to trace wires and fix the problems--a loose wire on the boiler and a fried thermostat (which I have to replace at my expense). The total came to $378.
I was hoping for $200, and I was prepared for up to $300. I understand this was a Sunday call, but the fix involved no parts. Of course, I am a new homeowner and this is the first time I've ever needed instant electrical service. So for all I know, I got a fair price.
