When I was out of work a relative suggested that I contact the Urban league for some career leads. The league offers this community based program that assists those trying to make a career move in "maintenance". Its a program where they have you come in and take a look at submitted jobs and try to help you find suitable matches according to what your qualifications are. They offer no guarantees jobs resume advice and assistance and a letter of referral. Also in order to participate in the program you must come in at least weekly (as a sign of good faith) and look through some job lead books. I did this consistently aside from my own job search and it didn't seem to help me any. Those that I have asked about the same program have felt the very same way. Its good in concept but the program is just not quite as much of a help as you need when you have been out of work for four months and the bills are overdue!
Overall the staff was nice and helpful.

Holy Cross Church in Kansas City is a pretty good church. I have been there several times, and I used to attend there weekly. The Church is really nice, and they do a good job presenting the mass. The only concern I have is that the church is kind of small. What do they do during Christmas and Easter?
3 Stars.

It is nice to be able to sit down in the evening and read what is going on around Kansas City without having to have the tv on. It is also nice to be able to read about what else is going on besides all of the breaking news. They are a great source of information and am glad to have this paper in the kansas city area.

This is a wonderful facility 10 minutes away from Kansas City!! You would never know how close you are to the city in this beautiful, tree filled oasis. This center can be used for business or personal retreats. It has conference rooms for 8-108 people with all the electronic amenities of any hotel. There are facilities for over night stay - hotel style or dorms. They are very clean and neat as well as modern. This center is on 320 acres of beautiful "country". There are hiking trails, a rope course, swimming pool, horseback riding and an area for picnics and campfires. A true retreat paradise - for any religious or business meeting.

I checked out the Beaumont one night and it completly rocked! This place is pretty big, a bar and lots of seating to sit back and watch great bands! Drinks are kind of pricey unless you hit a special night but I would definetly go back, fun times there at the Beaumont!

Penguin Park is located on Vivion Rd. in KC North. You can't miss it--turn at the Giant Penguin! There is ample parking right on the edges of the park, restroom facilities and a shelter with picnic tables for lunch or a rest in the shade! The park is divided into areas by age group so it's a great place for young children and toddlers because they can be separate from the older kids. The ground is made out of a soft material which is easier on the kids when they fall. This park can be VERY busy, especially on nice days. There is not much shade on the actual equipment, so bring your sunhat!
