Review content:
The first time I visited The Tomato Head in Market Square was about 15 years ago when I was still a UT student and I actually ventured off campus because I'd heard of this place. Back in those days, the only pizza we ate was at Vatican Pizza in the Fort. Now Tomato Head has never been able to offer entertainment on the scale of the old Vatican, but I was instantly hooked on the food. Tomato Head has changed buildings in the Square since then, but my old favorites are still on the menu. My favorite pizza is the Sundried Tomato and Pesto. TH pesto is unbeatable. My favorite sandwich is the Kepner melt with baked tofu, Monterrey jack cheese, pineapple, walnuts, roasted onion and pesto ...it is delicious. The bread is always fresh baked too. My favorite salad is the warm spinach with baked tofu and mushroom.
The new hot thing at Tomato Head is Sunday Brunch, Can't wait to go again.
I didn't give them a perfect score because the prices have gone up so much over the years and portions have gone down (skimping on tofu and dressing? come on). But I still Loooove it.
check out their cute website too: www.tomatohead.com
