Review content:
My finial decision to dine at this restaurant was made because they are part of the Idine network, and I wanted my miles. Prior to that, I had heard of the Charcoal House from friends. I had heard it was a causal environment that serves steak and has a lively bar. Walking in, I soon found the stories of the bar were true, live band playing classic rock, few open seats and several small parties going on. We opted to dine in the restaurant part of the establishment, still in clear ear shot of the live music. The menu has much to offer, all though this particular night the salmon was the only fish available. Doesn’t seem many people show up for the fish, prime rib and filets were the main fair. We opted for the prime rib, ended up being a great choice. While not five star it was very good (better than Stuart Andersons Black Angus). Your main dish is served with choice of salad or soup and potato or fries, rice, garlic mashed potatoes and garlic bread. Almost forgot, every table get a vegetable dish with dipping ranch sauce (finished before the salads arrived). If you are one that doesn’t like you salad drown in dressing, ask for it on the side. When I got to the bottom of my salad I had enough dressing for two more salads. For there being a bar I found it strange my first three requests for drinks were shot down, no Dr Pepper, no Root Beer and No Sam Adams??? I lived. They did have a nice house IPA I enjoyed. While we never waited for our drinks to be filled, and our tables were bused promptly, it seemed the steak took just a bit long to come out. Never the less our server Canada was friendly, quick with refills and cute! They run many deals, early/late happy hour with discount dishes and drinks. Worth checking out if you want a good steak in a casual environment.
