Good: When I was diagnosed with sciatica last summer, my insurance would have been happy to pay for 2-3 months of 3-times-a-wk treatments at a cost to me not only of time but also of $500-$700 in co-pays. Dr Ku treated me successfully in 5 treatments over 2 wks with a considerably smaller bill. Even included massage without charging extra me for it!. Bad: While treatment isn't always without some minor discomfort, it really is minor and quite brief. I'm talking a second or 2 here. If it is more than that, Dr Ku removes the offending needle. This fix was fairly quick, but I know acupuncture isn't always. The thing is though that Chinese medicine doesn't have the kinds of side effects that really strong and fast acting western medicine sometimes has.. Improvements: Occasionally, parking is at a premium, but I guess this is the price of popularity. There is additional parking in the back, though.. Other: Dr Ku really takes seriously that AMA oath: "First, do no harm." He considers the whole me. He and Kelly (his wife who does the massages) really care and want me to feel better and enjoy life. They're really nice people, the office is a pleasant kind of oasis, and I don't feel like I'm feeding the kitty for their next vacation or AMA lobbyist.
