PLRG's consignment policy states that at the end of a consignment period, they'll send you a check within 30 days. My consignment period ended on 12/15/09. It's March of 2010, and I still haven't received my check. I've called 4 TIMES to ask when I should expect the check. Each time they have told me that the last of the checks have JUST been put in the mail and I should get my soon. Additionally, they won't let me talk to an owner or anything (she's always out of the store and unreachable).
Other weird stuff:
I was shocked by the quality of their merchandise. Most of it is outdated and unstylish and they're also not selling very many of the higher-end brands listed on their website. I saw things from Target and Old Navy that were nearly the same price as it would have cost you to buy it new. I don't have anything against Target and Old Navy, but a consignment shop should know that Target tops usually cost less than $20 originally and that $10 or even $5 is not a good deal when it's used.
What was even weirder is that they only accepted 5 of my items for consignment. I almost didn't bring those particular items because I felt that they were borderline out-of-style. After PLRG rejected them, I took the rest of the items to Raspberry Beret in Cambridge, and they accepted ALL of them. Additionally, 75% of those items sold at Raspberry Beret. And if you check reviews, Raspberry Beret is much better rated for merchandise selection. So I'm not sure why PLRG was so picky when their merchandise was so poor.
I've consigned a few times over the years at several establishments. I've never been treated like this. If the poor quality merchandise doesn't convince you to stay away, the shady business practices should definitely convince you that this is a place that you should never visit.
Pros: NONE!!!
Cons: shady business practices/ crappy mechandise
