My partner and I had reservations for Valentine's Day. After seating us, the hostess placed some papers in front of us and left, saying our server would be with us shortly. We looked over the papers, which turned out to be a "special" Valentine's Day menu. It was 1/4 the size of the regular menu and offered nothing that sounded particularly appealing. When our server arrived we let him know we'd be ordering off of the regular menu instead, and he replied, "Oh, yeah, actually that's not available tonight." Excuse me? "Well, it's such a busy night (the room was 2/3 empty), and our kitchen is small, so we had to cut back to accomodate." Now, look: If you want to have a special Valentine's Day menu, that's fine and wonderful, but the least an establishment can do is make that KNOWN when people are making the reservation! I pointed this out, and our server replied, "Yeaaahhh... we don't really have a web guy." I'm sorry, but you had our phone number and our e-mail address - the lack of a "web guy" does not strike me as an impediment to letting people know, when they make a reservation for a special night, that 3/4 of your menu won't be available! As if that weren't enough, there was some shady work on the aforementioned Valentine's Day menu. The "three courses for $55" was a bit misleading - and by "a bit" I mean "wholly and entirely," since if one selected the *most* expensive items for each course, it would total $55 - anything else would, according to the prices listed, total less. The fine print noted that the items were available on an a la carte basis, but my impression was that they rather hoped nobody would do that math - else why offer it as a "three courses for $55" special? Perhaps I'm overly cynical after our experience, but I worked in a great many restaurants when I was in school, and none of them were run like this! We walked out. We decided we'd rather cook at home (there was no way we were getting in anywhere else at 8:30 on Valentine's Day!) than give this place our business. The food might be fantastic, but I'll never know. I'd advise anyone considering Amore to stay away on principle. Pros: None I know of... Cons: Read on...
