Businiess name:  Lanuti's
Review by:  RICHARD C F.
Review content:
This saloon-restaurant was started by the late Armondo Lanuti in 1907 and is still serving the finest family style chicken and seafood with the original homemade recipes. Lanuti’s expanded its seafood line to include walleye, catfish, haddock, frog legs, shrimp, red snapper, scallops and of course the famous tender fried turtle. Lanuti’s is still the largest user of turtle in the state. With the original, authentic 1930's design, the atmosphere is reminiscent of "Lou's Restaurant in the Bronx" of Godfather fame. Step back in time. Not retro, but real authentic food and drink the way Italian immigrants prepared it and America tasted it, molto buono! Of course the bartenders still wear shirts and ties and make the best Briarpatch ice cream drinks! A celebration with a shot of Strega is always in good taste. Join family owners Marty and Ann Fiocchi as they continue the tradition carried on by John and Dena Lanuti Bussa. Walk into Lanuti's and recognize your heritage. Bring cash or checks--there were no credit cards in the 1930's and of course they are still not accepted! This is living history! You owe it to your children and your ancestors. You owe it to yourself to see why Lanuti's has survived the Great Wars, the Great Depression, and Prohibition. Lanuti's was here before the Chicago Cubs last won the World Series!
