Businiess name:  Vallarta Mexican Restaurant

Review content:
I have eaten only once at Vallarta in Foley, AL, and will not be back. Ate there by myself on Oct. 30, 2007, at around 3:30 p.m., when there was only one other table occupied. Popular Mexican music was playing on the sound system, the decor looked authentic and attractive, and the place appeared to be clean. The person who seated me did not welcome me to the restaurant, nor did they talk with me as they led me to a booth near the rear of the dining room. I am bilingual, and tried talking with the waiter in both languages but got no reaction whatever. He just did not want to converse with me. I took a little extra time to study the menu, then ordered the chicken enchiladas with a Diet Coke. A bowl of tortilla chips and salsa was brought to the table without any comment, and the waiter returned moments later and threw an extra napkin onto the table. When my meal arrived, he handed me the hot plate without warning me that it was quite hot. The food tasted good, the portion was ample and the avocado salad complemented the enchiladas. Two other waiters entered the dining area while I was eating, but made no eye contact with me and said nothing. When I finished my meal, my waiter came and asked if I was finished, and I responded in both languages, but again, there was no response. Moments later, I went to the front counter to pay the check, and the staff person who took my payment said nothing to me; he did not even ask if everything was OK, which is fairly standard everywhere I have traveled. I live in Cuernavaca, Morelos, Mexico, and was traveling in Alabama on business. While most factors at Vallarta were acceptable, I will not be back because it was extremely unfriendly.
