RE: Wheel well liner falling apart.
We really don't know when or how this happened. If I jumped the curb or hit something, I certainly would know about it and assumed the responsibility. The liner could have been loose all along...we don't know.
I have this to say, however regarding Volvo of Orange County.
Any time there is any type of conflict like there is right now with the economy, consumers are looking for brands they can trust.
Volvo of Orange County could have said something like, things do happen but for goodwill we will do this at cost or parts for cost or something.
Not 'we don't owe him anything.' There could have been some fair way to work this out.
I don't have to tell you that service as well as sales enable the dealership to survive.
I realize that although I don't live close to your dealership and thus you would not be servicing my car...and so it really doesn't matter whether I come back or not.
It's amazing though, how short-sighted this attitude is.
Not only will I never deal again with Volvo of Orange County, but I will not be able to recommend the dealership either.
Last week, a couple outside of Trader Joes asked me about the XC90 and the dealership.
I gave a positive report as I felt you, Ken, dealt fairly with me.
As far as I am concerned, the trust is gone.
If this is representative of Volvo, it would be a shame as Volvo does enjoy a good reputation.
I will be contacting corporate about this issue. I am sure in this business climate that would appreciate feedback on their dealers.
If it doesn't matter that I am a satisfied customer then that can also be indicated in the reviews of the company, the dealership and the car.
Too bad; the cost of the part and repair will be long forgotten,
the dealerships attitude, long remembered.
