Auburn Nissan estimated $2500 in repairs on my Infiniti, but their master mechanic was willing to buy the car from me for "a couple hundred bucks and the cost of the diagnostic fee." I took it to a different place down the street and got the car fixed for $74. Runs like new. It needed a new rubber tube in the emissions system.
They inflated the cost of repair by including possibly useful but irrelevant things (new spark plug wires) and by including blatantly untrue issues (the crank seal isn't really leaking).
When the car was returned to me, the list of issues that they were willing to put in writing was shorter than what they had earlier claimed.
Bottom line: would you rather pay $2500 for $74 worth of work? Avoid at all costs.
