My Dad has been in ICU for 9 days and last night my fiancé had an accident that caused her front tooth to get knocked loose by 3pm it had come completely out. We called the emergency number for our dentist and he is performing emergency surgery at 6:00pm that night. Last week I proposed to my fiancé on our 3 year anniversary. Part of the proposal and surprise involved giving her a spa day at Arden Hills. She was very excited about the engagement and was looking forward to her spa treatment. I also bought one for my Mom who spends most of her free time caring for my terminally ill father. We called the emergency number for our dentist and they are performing emergency surgery tonight at 6:00pm. She is in a lot of pain, on codeine and is devastated about loosing her front tooth. I called Arden Hills Spa 3 minutes before they opened told them that she was unable to make the appointment due to a medical emergency. The lady on the phone told me that they needed a doctor’s note stating why she couldn’t make it. I told them that her appointment wasn’t until 6:00pm and that I wouldn’t have a note until then. The lady on the phone told me that they would need a doctor’s note in the next 30 minutes or they were going to charge the full $200. I asked to speak to the manager on duty and asked the manager if I could cancel or reschedule the treatment and she said NO. I told her again that it was a medical emergency and that her tooth was falling out and that she was on a lot of codeine for the pain. She told me that her surgery has nothing to do with her availability and if the surgery wasn’t until 6 then why can’t she come in and have the spa treatment. I asked if I could give her a note tomorrow and she told me flat out ‘NO’, that her appointment was today, not tomorrow. At this point I ether lost connection somehow or she had hung up on me. I called back and asked if I brought her prescription down if this would suffice. She said no and that we had already been charged the $200 and that the timeslot has been filled with someone else. As angry as I am, I do feel myself extremely fortunate that we had this horrible experience with a $200 spa treatment and not with a $15,000 wedding. Arden Hills Country Club was on our short list of places to have our wedding and I thank god that I have experienced first hand the service that can be expected at this establishment prior to us settling on a venue.
