Businiess name:  Jasmine Asian Bistro
Review by:  Nick T.
Review content:
I’ve eaten at the Jasmine Asian Bistro in Towson three times and had carry-out twice. The atmosphere is a little more upscale than the surrounding businesses: light jazz music in the background; interesting wall décor and hardwood floors. The bathrooms are very spacious and clean. On all the visits I’ve made to this restaurant, the service has been prompt and pleasant without being intrusive. I would recommend starting with the Jasmine Appetizer Platter, which consists of coconut shrimp; chicken satay with peanut sauce; crab Rangoon and vegetable spring rolls, attractively presented. The breading on the shrimp is particularly light and flavorful. These are pretty standard offerings but done better than at most similar restaurants. A favorite entrée is Thai Red Curry. The difference here is the sauce, fresh-tasting with a mild heat which allows the flavors of the coconut milk and lemongrass to come through. Another personal favorite is the Malaysian Tamarind. What elevates this dish is that the individual ingredients retain their flavors and are harmonized by the delicious sauce, again with a modicum of heat. I also think the restaurant’s offerings are good value for money, including the carry-out, with adequate portions and the rice- white or brown- included. Overall the dining experience is consistently a step-up from similarly priced Asian restaurants (and there a lot in the area).
