I was curious about a non-"commercial" pet store that has existed in the area for such a long time, and decided to visit. I was horrified by the conditions in which the animals were kept. The puppies were all covered in feces, the small animals did not have adequate water, and the cats were in cages far too small for them. There were dead fish in several of the fish tanks and they looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in days. Understandably, animals smell, but the store was rank with odor. I left, swearing to never purchase anything from this store. A few months later, I received a baby rabbit as a birthday gift from my brother. He unfortunately purchased the animal from Animals 'n' Things. The rabbit came with no information regarding it's sex or age. Its white feet were stained yellow from sitting in its own urine. No proper feeding instructions or any other care information was given. I did my research and began properly caring for the animal, which then suddenly died yesterday - ten days after purchase. The vet explained that the animal was most likely sick with parasites from the store and probably weaned too early from its mother. If you want a pet, PLEASE seek out your local shelter or rescue. There are tons of animals that need homes. Do not continue to support this type of negligence and cruelty. It is simply criminal.
