Review content:
So, the good things about this 24 Hour Fitness location are:
The machines are well-maintained.
The place, especially the showers and locker rooms, are clean.
They have a good stock of supplements.
Their trainers are quite knowledgeable.
They have fixed term contracts as well as month-to-month arrangements.
The things I don't like are:
Getting there can be hell because of traffic, regardless of the time of day.
If you get a good trainer, it's hell to get a regular appointment, especially if you rely on the onsite childcare center.
The Kids Club onsite childcare hours are geared toward married stay-at-home parents, not working single ones. Weekend hours are the worst -- Fridays they close at 7p instead of 9p, Saturdays they're only open until 12n or 1p, and of course they're closed on Sundays.
I was unimpressed with the range of classes held, especially their Yoga and aerobic dance classes. The instructors didn't do much instructing, but rather just seemed to do whatever they wanted and expected you to straggle along.
It's hard to get serious about getting fit there unless you've got a sizable budget. I get a lot more out of a fitness program if I have some personal training assistance, but they won't let you see a personal trainer just to get started on your own program. They basically want you to use their trainers whenever you work out, and I don't have the money to do that.
Overall a good club, but it's definitely not for the time-crunched, cash-conscious among us.
