Review content:
Since moving up here from Grand Rapids 9 years ago, I have searched for nice beaches.
Coldwater Park, which is a county funded, pay to go park located outside of town, offers a lake with boat access, a beach, a playground, a camp ground, and rental cabins.
The beach is horrible. The sand is more rock than sand, for starters. Then, the sand in the water is filled with both rocks and zebra mussles. This provides a foot cutting experiance on the best of days.
Water shoes are a MUST for this beach. If you do not have any, get some, or use old tennis shoes. Your feet will be shredded to ribbons without them.
The bathrooms provided to the beach are outhouses that are rarely cleaned out. From the location where you park, to the location of the playground, you have to cross the entire beach, which is probably close to half a mile long.
There are real bathrooms available, however, but they are in the campground area.
What bothers me the most about this park is that in order to use it, you have to pay them. I would think that by paying them, you are paying for the upkeep, of which there is none.
This park either needs to be changed to a free park, or it needs some serious attention from the county to update it and fix it up.
