Review content:
We had used Omjoza construction for several of our home improvement projects since 1998. We have never had to ask the owner of the company WALID ABU-RUMMAN to honor a warranty given to us until one of 3 new air conditioning units his company installed in our 3 family failed. The unit itself was covered under a 5 year written parts warranty when it was installed in 2003. One unit failed in 2005 and that is when our troubles with the company began.
At first Mr. Abu-Rumman tried to tell us our equipment was only covered on a one year guarantee. When we faxed him a copy of the written guarantee he then attempted to get us to deal directly with the company he subcontracted the installation work to (whom we learned later disappeared). When we explained that since the work was arranged for by his company this was his responsibility. It took us the better part of a year to get him to get a new installer to reinstall the new unit provided by the company.
Prior to the installation Mr. Abu-Rumann agreed to pay for any ancillary charges associated with the cost of the installation while we agreed to assume installation and labor charges.
The unit was secured and replaced. The total cost of installation was about $1000, $500 of which was labor related.
When Mr. Abu-Rumann was presented with his share of the bill, it would be fair to say that he went ballistic.
He then told my husband he would not be honoring his commitment and said his work was warrantied for one year only. When we pointed out that it was not his work at issue but the warranty of the product he installed he refused to discuss the matter any further and hung up on my husband. He has refused all efforts to get him to discuss the matter or honor his commitment.
It would be wise for the consumer to go elsewhere if one is seeking an ethical contractor. Mr. Abu-Rumann is happy to take the consumer's money but is not at all happy to make things right if something goes wrong.
You may contact me for more information at holidayorderbox@gmail.com if you are considering Omjoza Construction. I am certain you could do better.
