The outside of this restaurant is definitely eye catching and looks fun! A huge monster truck is on display in front, which immediately enamored my three year old son. Waterfalls provide a nice photo spot and then you ascend stairs into a giant "planet". Fun! Upon entering, we were greeted by two stone faced female employees and were told that it would be 30-45 minutes for a table. This was surprising, as the parking lot was only about half full and it was mid afternoon, but we'd just driven nearly 4 hours and were starving, so we decided to sit in the bar area. It was 2:30pm so we really needed some lunch. The bartender, Josh, was friendly and hospitable. A few other families made the same choice as we had, and he did a fabulous job juggling regular waitress drink orders and our food orders, along with the 2 gentlemen who had started their drinking early in the day ;) After we'd ordered drinks and food, we moved over to the balcony area to look out over the "crowd" and watch the videos on the big screen. We were very disappointed and annoyed to count no less than 27 open tables dispersed throughout the restaurant. We would much rather have dined in a smoke free section at a normal sized table instead of at the bar, but were led to believe it was unavailable. Hostess girls were nowhere to be found or believe me, I would have questioned them. We found Josh to be quite pleasant so we didn't bother trying to move at this point. The food was average. Hot items were served warm, cold items cold. Side items were as ordered. I found the kids' meals to be particularly pricey. The kids' spaghetti was $5.50 and it was about 1/2 cup of pasta with 1 meatball. It was enough for my little guy, but it would never have scratched the surface of my 7 year old's appetite. Oh and that didn't include a drink for them - that was an extra $2. Our lunch for 2 adults and 3 kids came to $60 with tip *faint* and that was after deducting a $5 coupon we found in one of the numerous coupon books. If the food and service had been better, I wouldn't have minded so much, but it was a huge disappointment. The atmosphere is fun but nothing like we'd expected. I am glad we had the chance to check out Planet Hollywood but we will never, ever return and will not recommend it to others.
