Can't seem to grow grass in your yard, flowers or veggies in your garden? You have sun, shade, soil, and water, right? Wrong-- it may not be all that simple. You may have a soil problem that requires a professional. You're lucky if you live in the Garden State because you can send a sample of your soil to the Rutgers Cooperative Research and Extension. These people get dirty in determining the pH and nutrient levels of your garden's soil and will offer fertilizing and liming recommendations. Soil technicians (that's what they're called) break your dirt down and provide user friendly help that even a layperson can understand. The service costs just $10 and it's worth it. This is a terrific service if you're a first time gardener or have just given up trying to grow anything.
