Review content:
I recently visited Hoboken's famous TEAK restaurant and was very disappointed. I will admit, the interior decoration is beautiful, but that's where your experience will stop. Seating: My group was seated outside along the sidewalk. It was a pleasant night with a cool breeze, so I figured it would be enjoyable. What I didn't expect was to sit on an incline or decline depending on which side of the table I sat at. I do not recommend sitting outside if you wish to dine at this establishment. In fact, there should be absolutely no option to sit outside. Trust me when I tell you, it's horrible. Basically, if your drink is full, it will spill over the side. Menu: The menu selections are excellent. The combinations of sushi are interesting as well, but the prices are ridiculous. $27.00 for a half inch of fish and rice is insane. Even basic rolls, which typically cost $5/$6 are marked up to $12, which is what you would expect to pay for a finer and more exotic sushi roll. Food: The quality of food is mediocre at best. The sushi is poor and is overpowered by incredibly starchy rice and there's alot of it too. The menu of exotic rolls looks excellent, but you're wasting your money. I sampled some sushi, but had Salmon for dinner. The salmon was overcooked with crispy edges and a dry center. Drinks: The drink menu consists of Martinis. That's it. They offer whatever you would like, but you certainly seem overwhelmed when looking at a list of only Martini's. I opted for the Mojito and it was the best part of my meal. The drinks were good and decently priced (compared to Manhattan prices) Service: If I'm at the diner, I expect my waitress to be uncertain about the specials or how the food is prepared. If I'm at a so-called fancy restaurant, I expect the waiter to know this menu perfectly. Our waiter frequently forgot about our drinks, didn't know the menu and had to view notes about the specials. Overall: Go somewhere else until management is changed. Pros: Drinks and Decor Cons: Food, Service, Price
