Review content:
My daughter has been attending Ruth Hoppin Elementary (Hoppin) since kindergarten. At that time, they were one of the few schools around our area with all day kindergarten. At that time, it was all day, three days a week, with a half day on Friday. I believe they are changing that now to make it all day every day. I was immediately impressed with the kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Bowen during Kindergarten Roundup. She talked about her love of teaching, and how excited she was. She told us that it had been her dream since she was a little girl to be a kindergarten teacher. I could tell right away that this was someone who truly loved children and teaching. When my daughter started Kindergarten, I knew my feeling was correct. My daughter immediately fell in love with Mrs. Bowen, and came home excited every day. She learned to love school and learning right from the start. She learned many songs, and always talked about all the fun things they were doing in school. She didn't even realize how much she was learning! To this day, Arminda calls Mrs. Bowen "An angel". Mrs. Bowen quickly learned the names of everyone in our and all the other students families. My daughter is now in second grade, and when Mrs. Bowen sees me, she will ask how my other two children are doing. She says she can't wait to have Lydia in her class. My daughter has had two other wonderful teachers since kindergarten, and I am constantly amazed at the things she is learning! Before Arminda started school, I was worried, because she didn't seem to have any interest in learning. I believe that due to the wonderful start she received in Kindergarten at Hoppin Elementary, and the "angel" of a teacher she had, she now views learning as an adventure. I also love the principal and the secretary at this school, they are all just wonderful caring people.
