I was a little concerned when I heard that the Union Planters Banks had been sold to some bank I'd never heard of called Regions. I was used to the friendly staff at Union Planters, and of course the "totally free" checking. Boy, was I relieved to find out that they retained the same staff and that there were no visible changes to the banking services.
The Denham Springs Regions Bank is located on Range near what used to be called Highpoint (now called Veterans), sort of diagonally across Range from Dollar Tree. There's a light at the side street there, Tate Road, which makes for easy in-and-out. (For future reference, DON'T SPEED ON TATE ROAD! Yes, it does cut through to Pete's Highway, but the local cops radar folks from time to time...yep, I got a ticket.)
There's a drive-through ATM, and during the day there's seldom a line to drive through to the tellers. (Watch out on Fridays and at lunchtime! But still not nearly as bad as at some of the Bank One/Chase locations in Baton Rouge.) The tellers always smile and wave at my little girl in the backseat.
Checking really is free. I buy my checks online to save money on that.
There are plenty of other Regions locations if you travel around in the Baton Rouge area and don't want to get hit with ATM fees for using a non-Regions bank. So if you live in Denham and you're thinking about banks, please consider Regions. I've been with them for 5 years and I'm very happy with them!
